Queer romance helps us imagine what is possible in the world. There is so much research showing us that fiction and imagining our futures are great for mental health, and specifically, queer romance can help reduce the impact of distress from so much in our current world. While queer romance can't "fix" distress, it can certainly offer an escape to the possible. The love story about future possibilities.
Here is my short list of books that bring so much joy and help me imagine beautiful possibilities. Friends that I still think about and wonder how they are doing.

As a (Squirrel) Scout leader in the UK of course this story was going to intrigue me. I hadn't realised how much it would have me laughing, have my heart melting and my headphones steaming! Cal, Russ and their co-characters are the best. I'm off to find the rest of the series...

Just some fun things from this week!

On Saturday we had some friends come over to play Bring Your Own Book. It’s like Cards Against Humanity but instead of picking from cards, you pick the best word, phrase, or sentence from your book to answer the prompt. It was hilarious! Definitely recommend. Five stars.

On Tuesday I went to the book release party at @spokeandwordbooks for I’ll Believe in Anything by Jacob Tierney. Didn’t win at trivia but got some cute stickers and was fun to geek out with some other fans.

Sweet @paperbackintheday has giveaways in her stories for HR prints and stickers. This is the second time I’ve won some. So cute!

Queer romance book club at @grandgesturebooks was on Thursday which is always a good time. I also picked up my trophy copy of Dearly Departed by Chip Pons finally, Falcon and Foe by A.J. Truman which I hear has fun fall vibes, and Minor Black Figures by Brandon Taylor. One of the fall/winter bingo squares is for a book that has an artistic main character, so that seemed like a good option.

When I tell yall I could not put this book down for a second. I buddy read this with my bestie @orlandoreadsqueer and let’s just say we fell hard for Prince Nicholas and Hank🥹

In this secret prince, big boy, sexy mm hockey romance we get to see two new teammates (more like the daddies 🥵) from the hockey team, the Comebacks, falling in love all over again.

Prince Nicholas wants nothing more than to just have a break and freedom from royalty which is why he’s on an extended vacation in America.

Hank is a single dad and a sexy plumber, who’s reliving his glory days on the local amateur hockey team, The Comebacks. He’s finally ready to embrace his newfound bisexuality and take a chance to date again…I mean his son is about to leave for college so now’s the time.

Not-Prince Nick and Hank have a storybook meet-cute with a Christmas tree trunk to the face… no like actually (talk about YIKES)🎄💥! From there, their romance is everything we all want and more. It’s raw, is hot, and it’s such an instant connection that you want nothing more than for them to be end game. No spoilers…but when it’s right it’s RIGHT OKURRRR!

As always, Truman gives us a steamy and beautiful romance for two people who just want to start anew and find their person. And Nick and Hank do just that. Two seemingly opposite people from completely different worlds find commonality, love and family in one another.

I absolutely love this entire series with my entire being and Prince Nick and Hank are just another amazing couple to add to my obsession list. 🥰

If you haven’t yet and are in the need for another hockey mm romance series to fall in love with check out The Comebacks series. You won’t regret it!!🫶🏼

I feel like I put so many of the same books in my challenges, I suggested we do it for just books we've read in 2026. Babygirl by Lucy Lennox just made it under the wire. I finished it last night!
