Okay I know this trend is funny, but it actually felt like a good opportunity to share a little more of what entrepreneurship has really looked like for me ❤️

People see me teaching and running Almara full time now, but what a lot of people don’t see is that I built this while babysitting for the last 3 years.

And even now, I still babysit part time.

Not because dance isn’t my real job. Not because I’m failing. But because babysitting gave and still gives me something that is really important while I’m building my dream, which is flexibility and steady income.

When I first started teaching, I was barely making any money. Babysitting let me work around weird dance hours (ifykyk), keep showing up for my dream, and keep building even when things were growing slowly. And slowly they were.

And honestly, I think that helped me build in a much healthier way 🙏🏽

I wasn’t putting all this pressure on dance to immediately pay all my bills before it was ready. I had space to grow things more naturally, stay committed, and make decisions from a grounded place instead of from panic or desperation.

Now I teach dance full time, and the only reason I still babysit part time is because dance has grown so much. And also because I genuinely love the family I work with. They’ve been so supportive of me and my business, and they mean a lot to me 🥹❤️🙏🏽 (if you’re reading this, I love you!)

I think entrepreneurship gets romanticized a lot, and people mostly see the exciting parts. The freedom, the dream, the “doing what you love” part.

But a lot of the time, it looks like working another job while you build. It looks like sacrifice. It looks like long days, weird schedules, less rest than you probably need, and doing what you need to do to keep going.

Having another job was never proof I was failing.

It was part of what helped me succeed 🥹❤️

✨ Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. ✨
A heartfelt thank you to Jack and Jill of America, Inc. — Phoenix Chapter for inviting our dynamic duo: Drs. Caryn Johnson and Lesley Williams ( @thepausepower ) to curate the Sips & Tips conversation on perimenopause in the beautiful space @thebotanist_az. 🥂🌵
We appreciated the opportunity to bring real talk, real answers, and real support — the ladies present provided the perfect audience for us to deliver just that. It was an honor to pour into the brilliant women in this room.
Perimenopause doesn’t have to be a mystery. When we come together, share our stories, and get the right information — we THRIVE. 🙌🏽
To every woman who showed up, asked questions, and left with something new — this was for YOU.
More conversations coming. Stay connected. 💫 photos courtesy of my always supportive sister : @aka_t_w Special thanks to health chair @tcalstarks for the invite & collaboration.
