As fall befalls us, we’re excited to kick off our Creative Justice Series, a series of programming that explores how the arts and creativity intersects with “other”currents of justice—or rather, how the arts are interlinked with seemingly isolated corners of society. Simplified, “creative justice” is defined by Antonio Cuyler as the manifestation of priority populations living creative and expressive lives on their own terms. This fall, our Creative Justice lineup includes: ✨One Night in Alosha, in collaboration with the city of Boston, Dunamis, Akeem’s Alchemy and Ágora, who will host “Fiesta en La Plaza presents One Night in Alosha,” an immersive celebration of the diasporic connection to Afro-Latin culture, featuring fantasy, Afrofuturism, music, theater, and dance from the Afro-Latin diaspora. ✨Bannermaking with Red Sun Press, who invites us to make banners with political messages, informed by featured gallery artists. ✨Housing Justice with local realtor, Jessica Ingram-Bee, who will offer a free educational workshop on creative pathways to homeownership through co-housing. ✨AI workshop with Arts & Business Council, who invite us to come together to understand how AI affects our work and rights, and critically discuss how we move with AI pushed by monopoly capitalists. ✨Social Emergency Response Center: taking a leaf from DS4SI’s book, we are excited to host a SERC. In emergencies like hurricanes, emergency response centers provide services like temporary housing, food, water and information. We want you to join us in re-imagining response centers to take on the real and pressing social emergency that we are facing today.
