Had the incredible opportunity to be one of six teams selected as part of the Fantastic Pitches. After weeks of hard work, we finally presented our pitch on the big stage in Austin, Texas to a jury of very talented filmmakers and were surprised to find out that not only did we win a prize of a free BlackMagic camera package provided by @fangoria , but that the jurors themselves created an additional prize on the spot because they loved the concept so much. So proud to announce that for our feature film American Vermin, we will now have Gore Verbinski, Catherine Hardwicke, Nicolas Curcio, and Kirby Gladstein as our mentors. What an honor to be mentored by all of these amazing artists. We are so thrilled and can’t wait to get started! Thank you so much to @jordanbastian_ , all of the wonderful folks at @chroma_presents , @fangoria, and @fantastic.fest for all of your support and having us be a part of such a special event. We’ll certainly remember this moment 🪳❤️ @akespada @theanniejacob #fantasticfestpitches #fantasticfest

It's alive! The finalists for this year's Fantastic Pitches have been chosen. This year we have not 5, but 6 teams who will pitch their creature feature/monster movie. Up for grabs? $100,000 in film funding, a world premiere at next year's festival, and worldwide distribution through @chroma_presents. Join us Sunday, September 20 from 1 PM - 3 PM in The Highball to watch the pitches. Winners will be announced right after, followed by a celebration! #FantasticFest #ChromaPresents #FantasticPitches

Some pics from the sculpture classes at the IATSE 479 union hall with co-teacher @lotuaconicanor. The students did so well and we had fun! If you don’t pass on the craft then the knowledge will get lost. Who is better to teach than fellow union kin? If things get busy again who can you call? Hiring non union people with no qualifications, experience or loyalty to the union gets us nowhere.

Photos from the 7th Annual Cherokee Student Film Summit last Thursday where @akespada and I were the opening presenters. We discussed our experiences working as crew on Stranger Things as well as the feast or famine nature of the film industry. We went over how the art dept, construction, paint, sculpture etc work together to build sets like these. It was weird for me to talk in front of a large group of people like this. There’s going to be another film panel March 13th hosted by Molly Mercer and Cherokee Counts Economic Development Film Program #filmedincherokee #behindthescenes Article at https://cherokeega.org/news/from-stranger-things-to-career-skills-cherokee-student-film-summit-prepares-the-next-generation/

Shout out to @erikarobelludeman for trusting us with her vision and bringing us on for this project. Who doesn’t love a good thriller? After a fragile new mother suffers a sudden fall, she accepts the help of a friendly neighbor. But when that act of goodwill takes a sinister turn, the mother is thrust into a vicious fight to protect herself and her baby.
