🔴 He was attending his own son's wedding when Israeli fire turned a family celebration into tragedy in central Gaza.

The elderly Palestinian man, Iyad Taha Harb, was killed by Israeli forces at the Bureij refugee camp, turning what should have been a day of joy and family memories into a moment of grief.

A father who was there to share one of the most important moments in his son's life never got to see the celebration unfold as it should have. Instead, his family was left mourning a loved one on a day they had hoped to remember for happiness.

For Palestinians in Gaza, even moments of joy unfold amid ongoing violence and uncertainty. Families continue to face the devastating reality of losing loved ones in circumstances that should never be overshadowed by the fear of death.

A father. A son's wedding. A family left grieving.

Behind every name is a human life, a family, and a story that deserves to be remembered. A heartbreaking story from central Gaza about Iyad Taha Harb, an elderly Palestinian father who was reportedly killed by Israeli fire at the Bureij refugee camp while attending his own son’s wedding. A day that should have been filled with happiness, family photographs, wedding celebrations, embraces, and memories instead became a day of grief for his family. His death represents the devastating human cost of the violence affecting Palestinian civilians in Gaza, where even important family milestones can be overshadowed by fear, loss, and uncertainty.

Behind this story is a father who came to share one of the most meaningful moments in his son’s life, a family preparing to celebrate a marriage, and loved ones left mourning someone they expected to celebrate with. For the family, the wedding will forever be connected to the loss of a beloved father. This is not simply a headline about another death in Gaza; it is a story about family, fatherhood, love, grief, and the ordinary human moments that every family hopes to experience in peace.

The story of Iyad Taha Harb draws attention to Palestinian families living through the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the impact of violence on civilians. Every name belongs to a real person, every loss affects a family, and every family deserves the chance to celebrate weddings, raise children, reunite with loved ones, and live without fear. His story is a reminder that behind the news from Palestine are individual lives and family memories that can never be replaced.

(Warning: Strong Language)

Last night we brought the West Yorkshire premiere of Palestine Comedy Club to Leeds! A documentary that finds humour, humanity and connection while exploring Palestinian life under occupation.

Our audience last night really felt what it was like to laugh together. To learn. To experience more of Palestinian life and culture... and to leave knowing a little more than they did when they walked in.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their thoughts afterwards.

LPFF returns this November for its 12th year.

🇸🇦🇾🇪🚨 SAUDI ARABIA ACCUSES YEMEN OF TARGETING MECCA — YEMEN DENIES IT

Saudi Arabia has accused Yemen’s Houthi forces of launching a drone toward the holy city of Mecca, saying its air defenses intercepted and destroyed the drone south of the city before it entered restricted airspace.

Saudi officials described the security of Mecca and the Two Holy Mosques as a “red line” and warned of further measures.

But Sana’a has strongly rejected the accusation.

Yemeni officials say there was NO operation targeting Mecca or any Islamic holy site, calling the Saudi claim false and insisting that their military operations target Saudi military bases and oil facilities — not religious sites.

The Yemeni statement said:

“THERE IS NO DANGER FROM YEMEN TO THE SANCTITIES.”

The competing claims have now turned the incident into a major political and religious flashpoint.

Saudi Arabia says:

THE DRONE WAS HEADING TOWARD MECCA.

Yemen says:

MECCA WAS NEVER THE TARGET.

For now, the key fact is that the two sides are giving completely different accounts of what happened.

And with Mecca being Islam’s holiest city, the allegation carries enormous significance across the Muslim world.

ONE INCIDENT.

TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NARRATIVES.

AND A CLAIM THAT YEMEN IS STRONGLY DENYING. 🇾🇪🇸🇦
