RESTART/ GROUND ZERO (18/10/2026)

When suddenly something unexpected happens , for reasons unknown - you do get a reality check. You either start doubting everything or feel like doing nothing. You are at two extreme polarities.

For an endurance athlete like myself who has been strong mentally, always dedicated, disciplined and self-motivated when such a setback occurs - I was evaluating - what could have gone wrong, what could have triggered this, why did this happen now?

Coming into this race- there were a mix of several positives & negatives I was carrying with me - not only sport related but overall life related. For the first time ever, I didn’t have a WHY, I felt out of sync. I was taking things simply as they come- minute by minute.

Was just happy & grateful being with a bunch of friends who kept things light and fun. Sometimes, all you need is to let go of everything, just be present and cherish the moment.

I was grateful to have been able to be standing at the Start Line of the race and crossing the Finish Line gave me a certain amount of self confidence that I still got what it takes to compete and perform well when the time comes.

Health is my #1 priority moving forward- more self aware, more conscious and more in-tune with myself and listening to my body for the long run.

The last 2 years have been a tough phase - far from smooth sailing and definitely not personal best territory. But VDHM is my absolute favorite run of the year, and missing it was never an option.

21.1 km in 1:38:36. No record times today, just pure heart, showing up, and putting in the work.

A big step forward on the rebuild. I will come back stronger. 💪🔥
