My dream bridal shower with the most special women in my life! My heart is so full; words can hardly express how much it meant to celebrate with all of you! 🕊️

Life is full of patches and I feel so incredibly grateful that these ladies serve as my thread... keeping me together, forming a full and beautiful quilt. Throughout the years, your words and kindness have provided both warmth and motivation. Blessed is an understatement. 🤍

NABJ•24: This was my 12th convention and let me tell you…this year’s family reunion was certainly one for the history BOOKS. 😅

Joy, laughter, encouragement, prayers…ALL good things come from seeing thousands of incredible journalists every summer! I’m ready to apply everything I learned 🥹

Even though I spent less than 48 hours in Chicago…my cup is FILLED. It overflows with happiness! 🥰

✨F A M I L Y✨ That’s truly the best way to describe @nabjofficial conventions. My soul is fed, my heart is full, my mind is focused.

Fun fact…I’ve been going to NABJ since 2012 & I’ve only missed one…since! I love our convention!

Birmingham was truly a blessing. It was special to see my mentors, my mentees, those I admire. The sessions were educating, enlightening and empowering.

But one of my favorite parts?? Celebrating my colleagues and how far they’ve come since we started this professional journey together. 🥹 WHEW!

Thank you to those who supported @hearsttv and came by our meet and greet breakfast! Loved seeing everyone there! Y’all are the real MVPs 🥰

Needless to say, another successful #NABJ convention!!!

Join me in congratulating our news boss Akili Franklin as she joins @hearsttv on the corporate side recruiting the nation’s best to our great company! Akili is the kind of leader we should all strive to be! She expects your greatest work, but will walk side-by-side with you as you reach new goals and tackle all of the curveballs life can throw at you! I would not be who I am today both personally and professionally without her love and support. I’m thankful to have a lifelong friend and she knows we will keep making her proud at @wyffnews4 !

Today, a New Orleans 📺 news legend retired!
After 47 years in the business, Chris Slaughter is riding off into the sunset.
With a nose for news and great stories, Chris is an encyclopedia on events, dates and facts.
His passion for journalism and holding those in power accountable is almost unmatched.
When I first started here 20 years ago, Chris was a competitor.
A longtime news executive at a station across town.
After 30+ years there, he moved into a senior management position at a station in Baton Rouge.
But for the last 5 years I’ve had the privilege to call him my colleague.
He’s run the @wdsu6 ‘Investigates’ unit … dedicated to shining a light on what some don’t want you to see, giving a voice to the voiceless and making sure the stories we tell make this state a better place.
Passing down wisdom and knowledge to make us all better at our craft.
From one time competitor, to colleague - I’m most fortunate to now call Chris a friend.
Enjoy retirement.

PS: We made sure to pick up his favorite, #6 from Bud’s with a cheese fry for lunch, and we got him an afternoon cake to celebrate.
