The lovely artists from the new ArchipelaGO! Exhibition at Newcastle Art Space kindly invited me to write poems about their works! I found so much joy in this intricate and colourful exhibition.

1. The first poem is called "What if Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy were aliens? / Expired Delight" inspired by Space Sentiels by Jen Denzin. (Featuring special guest Colin.)

2. The second poem is called "Archipelago" inspired by the Floating Suburb Project by Aksara Harriram.

3. The third piece is called "Ocean of Hope" inspired by a short film by Vanessa and Richard Turton called M(OTHER)

4. The final piece is called "Unflinching" inspired by the Undone painting by Frances Johnston. (This one comes with a content warning.)

Congratulations on such a cool exhibition guys! Newcastle Art Space is open this weekend from 12-4, so go check ArchipelaGO out! Big thank you to @daisyloveblossom productions for filming these poems and @joey_writes_ for reading them out at the opening. 💖💖💖💖💖

ArchipelaGO! is showing now at Newcastle Art Space.

Bringing together Vanessa Turton, Aksara Harriram, Jen Denzin and Fran Johnston, the exhibition explores identity, connection and difference through four distinct practices.

Each body of work exists as its own island, while together they form a vivid, interconnected landscape of colour, memory and lived experience.

Showing at Newcastle Art Space until 12 July.

Such a privilege to be invited to open ArchipelaGO! 🩷@newcastleartspace @loudlotus11 c/o the most amazingly talented artists @frances.johnston.art @vanessaturtonartist @jen_denzin_ @aksaradesigns || thank you for trusting me @alexmorriswrite to read your moving (and spicy) poems in response to some of the works in the show. Slide 5 to hear me read Alex’s poems, including the point where I say, “paint me in red while I give you head” to a room full of people 😘😘😘

Go check out this amazing exhibition if you’re in town 🌟

P.s. women are the centre of the universe 🪐

Coming soon to @newcastleartspace ArchipelaGO! brings together four female artists whose distinct practices form a shared yet fragmented landscape.
Each body of work exists as its own island—shaped by personal histories, lived experiences, and unique visual languages—while collectively creating a vivid, interconnected archipelago. Through bright, chromatic palettes and immersive worlds, the exhibition explores identity as something both separate and shared, drifting between individuality and connection.

Today, we had a fun family day out at the @gosfordgallery 🌈✨ The kids, hubby and I, all got busy creating with cardboard. We spent hours having fun making creations, to add to @aksaradesigns collaborative, cardboard world. ❤️ A cute treehouse, multiple caravans, a house with a rainbow roof and a she-shed dream!!!

If you get a chance this Easter holidays, you should totally check out the @floatingsuburbproject at the gallery. Let me know if you spy any of my family’s fun pieces! 🌈❤️

The lovely artist, Aksara, will have more cardboard creating fun, on the 10th and 15th of April, if you are looking to go along and add your own imaginative piece to the growing cardboard world. ❤️

Thanks for such a fun day!
