POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

After two years back at @ricerca_x (Lavanderia a Vapore, Collegno) — where mountains are either as close as a kiss or gone like a ghost…

Grateful for the dedicated company of William Mazzei, Jovana Malinarić, Yasen Vasilev, Ambra Pittoni, Elisa d’Amico and Francesco Dalmasso, in our recurring attempts to make sense of artistic research.

Surrounded mostly by asphalt, it feels as though we are walking the bogs, trying to sense where human steps might hold. It seems to happen where riddles find us sustaining each other…

👣 How can dramaturgy — the making-agentive of actions — be developed through the body rather than through the “intellectual mind”?

🪄 How to tweak artistic disciplines so they no longer disable forms of fundamental investigation and of figuring-it-out?

🪩 How to declare our alterity as a means of production while making sure everyone involved can own and celebrate the process.

🕳️ How can we become truly plural — maintaining and cherishing difference — opposed to being tricked into illusory sameness?

🔮 What kind of excellence and virtuosity do we inspire for if to avoid provoking idealizing worship or inducing inferiority?

Što ne vidimo može nas dotaknuti
Catalina Insignares
11.10. | 15–18 h
TALA PLE(j)S, Radnička 27, Zagreb

Pozivamo vas na radionicu umjetnice, koreografkinje, plesačice i dramaturginje Cataline Insignares.

Radionica istražuje načine uspostavljanja odnosa s nevidljivim kroz tijelo, dodir, glas, slušanje i pažnju.

živi i radi u Europi.

Stvari imaju žile, a tim žilama prolaze krhotine i ostaci života.

Swipe for program timetable!

Let us call this moment of transition — from a roughly four-hundred-year-old rationalist epoch toward an unknown age — AfterWorld [PoslijeSvijet]. Instead of catastrophe, the end perhaps opens up the possibility for us, as cultural workers, to shape artifacts that carry different values into the new epoch, introducing something unknown or magical into a plastic reality shaped by language. Magic as a network of relations, in place of the imperative of linear progression of economic-technological progress; as gestures of listening that precede any agreement; a ceding of space without knowing what will actually emerge. At a moment when what is recognizable to us is rapidly disappearing, we propose AfterWorld as a speculative, transportable object, or a bridge toward another world. Resisting canonization, it is an artifact that strives so that something — perhaps entirely unlike itself — might continue after it.

(web and details coming soon!)

Recursive Accident by Marko Gutić Mižimakov @akvae (Galerija Manuš @galerijamanus ) at miart 2026 @miartmilano

Looking back at the Emergent section of the 30th edition of miart, I had to stop and deeply appreciate this visual research by Zagreb-based artist Marko Gutić Mižimakov.

Automatically, my mind linked these pieces to the dismemberment of an entity caught in constant resistance. But far beyond a mere medievalist or aesthetic whim, the recursive signal appears here as a cast and a low relief. Mižimakov recalls the organic architecture of a conch shell—not through a direct representation, but by applying its logic to a medieval glove, scanning and modeling it through an acrylic material that undergoes a thermal mutation.
Through this process, the artist replicates himself as a perfect idea, generating artificial echoes within a digital matrix. He embeds his own intimate parts, cast in plaster, which remain protected high above by the knight's armor gloves.

It is a stunning visual paradox that echoes Plato’s allegory of ideas and replicas. Beneath the surface, it hides a powerful metaphor: it fragments memory and presents a brutal, transmaterial critique of how technology reshapes us. It explores a fragmented identity through the strict boundaries between protection and restriction, absence and presence—a post-medieval laboratory where the body is no longer a whole, but a series of scattered, memory-charged textures.

20. izdanje festivala!

Tu smo i nismo više tu.

Detaljne informacije o programu, raspored i pregled lokacija stižu uskoro!

Marko Gutić Mižimakov & Paula Tončić
Razbojna

📍 Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka
🗓️ 17 July – 30 August 2026

.
...Razbojna emerged as an open-ended, unfinished process of encounters with a context: the city and its surroundings, the space and institution of the museum, our encounter with one another, and new collaborators and friends. The works presented here trace this process, revealing our shared interest in the materiality and temporality of moving images and sound, as well as in things that have aged, become worn, and fallen into decay...

Marko Gutić Mižimakov is a visual, performance and text-based artist living between Brussels and Zagreb. They are interested in shaping sensory materials through intimate, collaborative and social processes. Together with Paula Tončić, they participated in the Kamov Artist Residency at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka, awarded as part of the 37th Youth Salon Prize.

Paula Tončić (b. 1997, Zagreb) is a visual artist based in Berlin. Her practice investigates archiving, materiality, and the boundaries between reality and fiction. Her work She Plays with a Knife received the Grand Prix at the 37th Youth Salon. Together with Marko Gutić Mižimakov, she participated in the Kamov Artist Residency at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka.
