I REALLY needed a vacation after this brutal summer and visiting BC with @americansquares delivered. So much packed into just one week. It was lovely getting to unwind with family and friends in such an ideal environment (for me, anyway) and caught a streak of perfect weather on top of it all. Hiked through old-growth forests, along scenic harbors and on hot, dusty ridgetops with wild goats leading the way. Spent another year feeding soft-serve to my peacock friends in the park and marveling at the world’s tallest totem pole. Visited the most sparsely populated and remote of the Gulf Islands and its manifold marine life. Took on the eye-popping flora and fauna that always seemed to pop up unexpectedly. Consumed excellent food and drink at every turn. Thifted - not particularly successfully but enjoyably. Was put to the test of learning an acoustic arrangement of a cocktail jazz number in one afternoon to be performed at my father-in-law’s 80th birthday dinner that evening, itself quite the outing. Somehow in between all this there was actually downtime to relax and just watch hummingbirds on the balcony, well into the evening. This was much needed and is already sorely missed.

10 years ago we opened our doors at The Acorn to celebrate vegetables in all their glory! 💫

After a decade of doing what we love, we saw it fitting to express how grateful we are to the community who brought us to this milestone.

What better way to say 'thank you' than an epic street party? We're blocking off 24th Ave beside the restaurant and are planning all kinds of fun. Acorn-style street food, wine, beer and cocktails will be served all day long with music, games, prizes, exclusive merch, vendor booths, and much more! Bring yourselves and the whole family – even the littles! There may just be a bouncy castle involved…

A huge thanks to everyone who has served, poured, worked, cooked, collaborated, farmed, and dined at The Acorn for the past decade – we truly couldn’t have done it without you!
