Today Clown Dopey delivered the thesis titled "Absence of the body" to my thesiscoach @alaenen for a proofreading.
Ofcourse he did it on my behalf, but for several reasons I couldn't go there myself.

Happy readings, Ann!

Full tittle of the thesis:

Absence of the body
"How to evaluate the work of Richard Willem Klapwijk?"

Maybe a bit long...but I wanted to share a bit of my hyperspace adventures with Myself, Clown Dopey and my thesiscoach @alaenen

In this session and 4th letter I choose the angle of Technology from the book Performance Perspectives by Jonathan Pitches and Sita Popat. I try to investigate from this perspective my central thesisquestion: How to evaluate the work of Richard William Klapwijk. But not everything went smooth.....

The Third Letter to my thesiscoach @alaenen is about Time.
Six letters with all different themes (or angles) taken from the book Performance Perspectives are all part of my thesis titled: How to evaluate the work of Richard Willem Klapwijk?

The video is just a short snippet, of the audiofile I recorded while I was running in the Rivierenhof park in preparation of the letter.
I will deliver this letter at @sintlucasantwerpen in just a few seconds.

By the way The Second Letter about Space is on its way.
It is sent by mail and will probably arrive later then The Third Letter about Time.

Untill the next one

Richard

Today I send the first letter to my thesiscoach @alaenen @sintlucasantwerpen.

The first letter, concerning The Body, stems from an analytical approach in the book Performance Perspectives (by Jonathan Pitches and Sita Popat) in which from six different angles the art of Performance and Theatre is described and explained.

The six are body, space, time, technology, interactivity and organization
The Body is the first one...
With this in my mind I try to find an answer to the central question of my thesis:

" How to evaluate the work of Richard Willem Klapwijk "

The video is a short snippet what led up to the final version of the first letter

My online masterthesis coachingsession @sintlucasantwerpen with @alaenen turned into a pretty clear insight to my work (at this point😊)

Because I didn't record it on video I decided to re-enact the session, so I can still share it with you. Have fun!

Not into decoration - a social-political exhibition

Social-Political art holds the power to be impactful due to its ability to communicate complex ideas, challenge prevailing norms, and evoke strong emotions in its audience. By engaging with political and social themes, artists can create a dialogue and foster critical thinking, which can inspire change and raise awareness of pressing issues.

Sixteen artists, most of them alumni of Sint Lucas - School of Arts, came together to create an exhibition where unlike most other types of expression their art doesn’t care if it’s decorative or not.

Artists:
Klaartje Lambrechts, Lies Verhaegen, Silke Debandt, Dimitri Reist, Violeta Chouciño Veiga, Susanna Ingignoli, Alexandra Fraser, Shirley Cnop, Shuwen Hu, Lies Jacobs, Lars Hiele & Pieter VandenHoudt, Floere Braet, Valerie Vandecasteele, Bente Govaerts, Miguel Warmenbol, Chloë Kamali

May 16 - 19, 2024
Sint Lucas Antwerpen - Van Schoonbekestraat 143, Antwerpen

May 16, 2024 at 7pm - Performance by Lars Hiele & Pieter VandenHoudt at the Sint-Laurentiuskerk (Van Schoonbekestraat 155)

Almost there! The next exhibition is in MALTA!!!🙌🙌
Here are some sneak peeks of my plans. The sketches reveal what will be built over there. Well, more or less😉 Curious? I am too. And really excited!!

Rituals of Passage is the result of a co-creative project between Ryan Falzon, Aaron Bezzina, Alexandra Fraser, Yasmine Akondo, Mladen Hadžić, and Stefan Kolgen. Rituals are part of everyday life. During times of distress, they give comfort. The title is based on the fact that rituals can bring you from one stage to another physically and mentally. Post-covid rituals can help us find balance in a disrupted society where attention to mental health and well-being has become important. Rituals can help make us name and discuss these issues. The artists created the works with the exhibition space in mind, presenting them in such a way that they interact with each other and that they challenge the viewer, offering context for the audience to create their own story. During the opening weekend some works will be accompanied by a performance and a discussion session about the meaning of rituals will be organized, followed by a meet and greet with the artists.

The exhibition takes place from 3 March till 6 May at Valletta Contemporary in Malta. Curated by Stefan Kolgen and Ann Laenen and supported by the Flemish Community, @sintlucasantwerpen - School of Arts and @vallettacontemporary__malta
