Kalo Kween

My husband’s buddies cleared and maintain a taro plantation outside of our home. Leading up to this shoot, I’ve been tracking when and where the light hits the leaves, and watched it grow over the past few months. @alafaga is usually behind the lens, so having her model (aka get dirty and sweaty and weird) for me was a true honor.

Big thank you to O, Simon, and the guys for unknowingly creating my new go-to photo backdrop. Drinks on me (Tim) 😜💙

@alafaga you’re a cool cat. Thank you for the ugly laughs, naughty jokes, and being my muse. Results coming soon!

Congratulations, Amerika Samoa! 🇦🇸

The National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, opened 'From These Lands: Sharing Our Natural & Cultural Heritage,' an exhibition featuring objects from every state and inhabited U.S. territory.

American Samoa is proudly represented through historical and contemporary works, including a siapo from the 1890s, Su'a Uilisone Fitiao's siapo mamanu, a siapo mask by Reggie Meredith Fitiao, an i'e from 1875, an illustration from the 1800s paired with a modern photograph by Puataunofo Tofaeono, a clip from "Daughter of Barkcloth" film by Gabby Faaiuaso, and many other pieces that showcase the richness of our culture and heritage.
What an honor to see our stories shared alongside those from across the nation. We have been wonderfully represented!

Stay tuned for details on how to view the exhibition online✨🇦🇸

To my Twinny💛

We are over the moon getting to witness you receive ANOTHER degree in your academic career! 🥳 You continue to represent your family and the ones who have passed before you, illustrate what it looks like to be GOD fearing and handle your business, all while laying down another brick for every future Sāmoan/Filipina afakasi lil girl who wants to follow their dreams someday 🥹🇦🇸🇵🇭

I know your dad was BEAMING with pride this day, that’s why the sun was out on a day that was forecasted for storms ☀️ His presence was felt in the tears that welled up while I watched you wait for your name to be called on stage, in the long hug that you gave my Mom, and in every UPS truck that followed us around the city 🤎🫂

You are THAT girl, my dawg! Thank you for setting the example for our next gen while taking your loved ones with you to the top and carrying the weight of that effortlessly. We love you so much and can’t wait to see the doors that God opens for you❤️

The month of May was filled with life celebrations from NYC to Omaha, Nebraska then to San Diego and ending the festivities back home in Oahu.

From sister dates, to themed experiences, to the zoo, and endless playground visits, this trip has filled my heart 💛

I can’t believe all our talks about our trips in May has ended but I’m looking forward to what June has to offer.

If you know the non-rev life, you know that walk to the gate is a mix of adrenaline and prayer. 😅 But there’s nothing like the feeling of finally stepping onto that jet bridge knowing you’re on your way!

To be honest, I’ve been stuck in a “survival mode” loop for a while now. I haven’t even officially done my Q1/Q2 reset yet, but I realized I needed a change of scenery to finally find my rhythm again.

Touching down in NYC to see my sister and her hubby is a gift, but having all my sisters here at the same time? My heart is so full. 🗽🏙️ This is exactly why we brave the standby life—for the moments that remind us who we are outside of the daily grind.

Consider this my official “Day 1” of the reset. 🤍
