AI doesn’t just create—it also helps decide what gets erased.

GLAAD’s latest report, *Build For Everyone: A Framework for LGBTQ Representation and Safety in AI*, has an important message for everyone who creates and shares work online—especially creators from marginalized communities.

The report centers the need for AI systems that are safe and inclusive for LGBTQ people, while highlighting how bias, inadequate safeguards, and a lack of accountability can shape both the future (and the present) of our online spaces. For LGBTQ artists who have experienced removals, censorship, or reduced visibility, the report gives language to concerns that many have raised for years: when AI moderation is built on biased data, lacks contextual understanding, or operates without meaningful human oversight, LGBTQ creators can be disproportionately affected.

Among its recommendations, GLAAD calls on AI developers and deployers to:

-Ensure LGBTQ people are accurately and inclusively represented in training data and evaluation processes.
-Maintain meaningful human oversight of AI-assisted content moderation.
-Engage LGBTQ communities and civil society organizations to improve transparency, accountability, and safety.

At Don’t Delete Art, we support artists navigating online censorship—an issue increasingly shaped by automated moderation systems rather than human reviewers capable of understanding context and nuance. Bias can be embedded in training data, reinforced through moderation decisions, and amplified at scale.

LGBTQ artists are especially vulnerable. Many of the reports we receive come from artists whose work explores same-sex affection, trans bodies, gender identity, or reclaimed sexuality. Too often, this work is mistaken for explicit or harmful content simply because AI systems struggle to understand artistic, cultural, and social context.

We believe AI moderation should never be the final authority on identity, culture, or creative expression.

Protecting LGBTQ creators means protecting everyone’s artistic freedom.

If you hear everyone shouting “Hai, ba, dô!” (literally “Two, three, cheers!”), get ready — a shot is coming 😂

And yes… people often call it “vodka”, but it’s not always vodka the way you think. It can be local rice liquor (rượu), homemade alcohol, or cheap clear spirits — basically anything strong and transparent.

Here, drinking isn’t just about alcohol. It’s about connection, hospitality, friendship, and sharing the moment. Refusing isn’t rude anymore, but joining the toast is usually a sign of respect and good vibes.

Vietnam dinners = food, laughs, and lots of “Hai, ba, dô!”

‘GÓTIKO TROPIKAL’ is an evolving series of audiovisual experiences by interdisciplinary artist and DJ Natalia Escobar and art club Studio 1111. On January 22 at Studio IIII, the second edition presents performance artist Jao Moon and Venezuelan musician Argenis Brito, performing under his alias Argenis Latinotrónico.

The project is grounded in the Gótico Tropical movement which, through satire, Gothic horror and social realism film, critically dismantled exoticized portrayals of Latin America during the 1970s and 1980s. Revisiting this legacy, ‘GÓTIKO TROPIKAL’ reclaims the grotesque and the decadent as powerful tools for contemporary storytelling across sound and image.

Signature cocktails by SOKÓŁ VODKA, created uniquely for ‘GÓTIKO TROPIKAL,’ will fuel the evening as sound, bodies and images weave together on the dance floor, conjuring the night into a charged encounter where cinema, performance and club culture convene.

Read the full preview article by Eve Rogers at the link in bio, including more on Jao Moon’s ‘The Lifetime of Fire’ performance unfolding as a ritual between pain and pleasure. Attend ‘GÓTIKO TROPIKAL’ at Studio IIII at 8pm on January 22.
