I'm thrilled to be teaching a four-day workshop in Paris this November – in Toulouse Lautrec's former studio in Montmartre! Classes are limited to 10 people and are held from 10:00 am to 13:30pm, with a short coffee and croissant break. We'll meet one evening for an aperitif to discuss all things translation, and there will be a welcome and a farewell dinner and optional activities in the afternoons, including browsing in the storied Shakespeare and Company bookshop.

On the last evening, students will have the opportunity to read from their own work.

Applicants of all levels are invited to apply. The workshop will focus on different kinds of translation, both fiction and non-fiction, and will be very hands-on, with lots of discussion and constructive feedback. In addition we'll discuss the practical aspects of working as a literary translator, including pitching to publishers, drafting and reworking, and of course the impact of AI on the profession, with the aim of giving participants the confidence and tools to begin or continue their journey as translators. I promise it will be a fantastic experience! Please send this on to anyone you know who might be interested. "Would you like a drink... Peter?"

'Spanish Oranges'. Written by Alba Arikha, directed by Miriam Cyr.

Certain mind games ensue between an author and an interviewer as the former is publicising her new novel; which shares its title with the play.
Clever set design enhances this production at The Playground Theatre in West London; well performed by Jay Villiers, Arianna Branca and Maryam D'Abo.
I'll confess: D'Abo's famous '87 film role was my main reason for attending. But it's a worthwhile night at the theatre for more than just that...
