POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I started taking screenshots at the beginning of this year. I saw these numbers, in sync or aligned. As of late, I’ve started adding notes about what I was doing or thinking of or speaking to when I noticed the time.

I feel like this is just a bit of nonsense to some, and to others it’s a mirror of the way they see or move through the world.

There’s no good or bad, but in the simple noticing I am seeing the value of my time. What I think about and where my energy goes, I ponder. When I notice the time and the numbers match up whether I’m feeling excited or enthused or when I am deep in thought, lost in a trance and when I come out BOOM there it is…

My practice, my teachings, the pedagogy of it is rooted in habits and patterns and the choices we make. These consistent and regular thoughts & actions, where we take on being empowered where we are.

By simply bringing our attention to something, we make it sacred. Us arriving with what is right in front of us - when so often life pulls us back and forth, fixating in the past and anticipating the future - we bring divinity and universality to it.

I see all of us as powerful, potent beings, full of possibility, and the universe as a place full of abundance, with more than enough to go around. I truly believe if we could slow down and see a bit more of this for ourselves, within ourselves, the possibilities out there seem pretty damn magical.

Forever student. Inquirer extraordinaire. Or as my friend Lindsay said “sometimes a teacher, always a student.”

These are clips of my practice over the past several weeks. It’s a glance at the work I’ve been doing in the Katonah Mentorship with @katonahyogacenter

Each week 3-5 hours of practice, 2-3 hours of content & material. On top of parenting, teaching, working and whatever else I seem to get myself into...I wouldn’t do it any other way.

It’s amazing the teachers I’ve been learning with, the community that’s been building, the things I knew settling in and new information coming through. I have been enjoying taking it out into the rest of my life and seeing what turns up.

Community and connection, those are the things that bring me to yoga, and in particular, to a group practice. When I travel, I search for a studio and for a practice. A chance to intermingle with whatever normally flows in another part of the world. I stay curious.

I have formally trained over a thousand hours. I have taught nearly four thousand hours of yoga. I have led teacher trainings and guest taught and through all of this, one thing remains steadfast, the seat of the student.

My seat at the table. I practice. I learn. I teach. Repeat.

The most recent insight landed today about poses, time travel (interstellar moment, omg!) and vision was when Nevine said “the shortest distance between two places isn’t a line, it’s a fold” and the roobux cube of my mind just click, click, clicked into place. Das klingt gut.

It’s not perfect, but I’m working on it. I can feel the difference, it fits better.

Megan and I met and it felt serendipitous. I was leaving for India for my 300 Hour YTT and she was managing and designing for Haus Love. I had been in to shop a few times and taken class with her but we hadn’t really ‘met’ yet.

I was looking for a job and mentioned I’d be back in a couple months with a lot of time available. The first day on my trip (7 weeks in) that I had wifi, I got a message from Megan saying they were hiring. And just like that, I went from knowing someone a little to loving them a lot.

She’s observant. She’s a projector. She’s well-versed in mystical and magical sciences and studies. She’s also our in house astrologer for Winter Attunement. Megan is guest teaching a special class synthesizing the cosmic vibes and the current season for participants to explore. Also included in the series is a 30 minute chart overview with @cosmic.echo

In her own words:
Megan has always been a seeker- of beauty, purpose, and love. She worked in the interior design and retail world for 18 years. In the midst of working her day job, she was guided inward and felt called to the yoga mat in 2010. Yoga opened her up to a whole new world within and eventually led her to the ancient art of Astrology. Used as a tool for self reflection and inquiry, Astrology reveals the depth of the human experience and that we each have a unique cosmic blueprint. Megan's passion is helping others feel more connected to themselves, remember their wholeness, and learn to love all parts of themselves. She believes that the more we learn to love ourselves, the more potential we have to be the change that we wish to see in the world.”

I can’t say enough about this woman. Shannon elevates all and those lucky enough to know her could attest, she is always trying her best and loves to the fullest. Always. She embodies this sense of knowing that it’s not to be ‘perfect’. She is the shoulder to lean on when you’re doing the same, cause babes that shit is HARD.

She is human (and also a goddess) and doing the best with this life she’s been given. She leads by example and I often look to her for guidance. She’s my soul sister. Which is why I am beyond honored and delighted to share she’ll be leading the Winter Solstice: The Seven Generations Goal Setting event for Winter Attunement on 12/21.

Here’s a little snippet in her own words:
“Often goal setting is bound up with individualism, consumerismand other unflattering 'isms' that tend to tear our world a part and disassociate us from the collective. If you sit back and think about it, you are here because someone many many years ago wished for you to be so. Someone planted seeds, someone else worked long hours, someone else fought like hell and another took incredible care and so on and so on so that you could be here. So when we goal set from a place of responsibility for ourselves as well as the 7 generations (a Native American principle) to come, we shift goal setting from an egotistic act to a revolutionary one.”

What is your mark on the world? How does who we are now impact what will be far down the road when we are far out of any known existence of this life?

These big questions can lead us to small and big truths in this moment.

PISCES

The last sign in the traditional zodiac chart. Pisces is the all encompassing sign mutable at its core. This sign symbolizes how endings segue beginnings in the perpetual cycle of all things.

Pisces holds the unseen and mysterious sentiments with sensitivity and compassion, true to its water element nature. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can simply be transformed. This is the embodiment of the Pisces energy.

In a sense, this sign works towards its own flow and function, but as water is mostly formless, it takes on the shape of the container within which it exists. It is adaptable and relatable. For this reason I see it as the most water-y of signs of them all.

It’s greatest question - how am i the universe and the conduit at once?

We embody all the signs and archetypes. How much we play to them is for us to explore.

Pisces - two fish - is said to rule the Feet in the body. It gives us a sense of our footing, everything else is built upon (and within) it. How are you walking through your life? What is the ground on which you stand upon?

Curious? Learn more and explore in a communal setting with Winter Attunement. Begins December 18th.’

Winter Attunement- a Virtual Workshop Series - begins December 18th!

@be.sow.grow will be leading us on the Winter Solstice and @cosmic.echo will lead an astrology deep dive and practice in February.

The course comes with a natal chart reading with Megan and 1:1 sessions with myself every other week starting in the new year.

I have to limit the number of spots that are available since we only have so much time to give.

Spots are filling up!

This is a chance to connect with others far and wide. It is also the time nature supports us to dive in and connect back to oneself.

We never stray from the path my friends, the opportunity lies in playing the energies within and around us to our advantage. That’s why we use yoga to slow down and get present. Breath work to stir things up and let the dust settle so we might see how we land. Get a sense of our footing in this life and decide how to step forward. What you do matters. How you do it matters. How you feel about it matters. Figuring out if our feelings are based in reality, also matters. That’s why need community. Sounding boards. Those who’ve been where you’re headed and the other way around.

Mornings pages - one of the many tools we will explore.

It’s good to keep a variety of tools in your toolbox so you can pull out what you need when you need it.

My hope is to live a long and prosperous life. One of the ways I see that is taking care of my body and the other my mind. They are interconnected and working both encourages longevity. Which is also why I find yoga so useful. These are lifelong practices.

Explore with me this winter. The virtual series connects us beyond the boundaries of where we live and when we are available.

Curious? Hit up my DMs.

Capricorn officially begins on the Winter Solstice and is the first zodiac archetype we will traverse in Winter Attunement.

The Sea-goat is the symbol of this zodiac during the Winter Season. Capricorn is an Earth sign, with themes such as having a strong foundation allowing it to achieve great heights. Sometimes referred to as a mountain goat, it possesses the quality to do what it needs to overcome the challenges, which can feel like an uphill climb, life will inevitably bring our way.

I’ve heard this sign referred to as the CEO of the zodiac. Boss babe energy and the ability to remain agile even through the obstacle ridden terrain of this adventure we call life.

We explore the signs of the season to help us navigate the current season of our lives. In a natal chart, we might notice where the energy lies and what our Sun placement ‘says’ about us. All of us have Capricorn energy, some more than others…

Winter Attunement begins December 18th. Hope you’ll join in on the fun. Baaaa.

#BlessUp

This has been a thing I have put out for some time but never got to. Until now. I have been working on a website with someone near and dear to me. Thank you @chaniemobley for your time and energy and willingness to work with me. It is a great fortune having someone who gets me to create something so special and necessary for me to expand my offerings.

I love social media. I also see so much trouble in social media. If I was to do the work of focusing on this platform JUST FOR FUNSIES I needed somewhere else to send those whom I encounter professionally. One of my strengths in this life is connection. I see the way things are connected and the patterns that weave through.

There are many themes that show up between what we do, how we do it and the way we think about it. In an attempt to bring more levity in my experience with this app I have wanted to step into something more focused. Hence a website.

Social media can be problematic at times and in others it can be inspiring, full of hope and tessellate good out into the world. We can find community beyond the boundaries of where we live.

Eventually there will be a newsletter. Eventually there will be more to share. But for now, it’s a landing page to find my current schedule, my upcoming events and soon to be announced retreats.

Thank you all for your patience as I post about the work I do. This will still be a place I share it but you’ll always see the link under @alchemyoftheself in the BIO and by simply following this post.

Winter Attunement Series

Well, I changed things. As is to be expected.

In the ten years I’ve been teaching yoga I rarely saw what I was doing as building upon itself. I was just doing what I love and hoping to be better at it. I was continuing to learn, explore and inquire.

The moment I thought I had figured out how I was going to make this thing called “work” actually work, well, a global pandemic came. After some family drama and a change of plans, I landed here.

I started offering a seasonal course last Winter. I can’t say enough about the amazing group that came together and supported this inaugural offering. Weekly meetings. Book club. Gua sha. It honestly was a lot of fun. And A LOT of work.

Which is why I changed things this year. I’m working differently, different spaces and at a different pace. I’ve mixed what I love together into a little package that can be accessed from wherever you reside.

I made a schedule with some more wiggle room than the year before. We meet every couple of weeks including a monthly Astrology archetype workshop. I have guest teachers leading specialty events and practices. I’m sharing the load and condensing it all at once.

What can you expect? Katonah Yoga. Breath work and meditation. Writing and reflection. Story telling. Exploring astrology, numerology and the many patterns in nature. There will be community and connection and you can do this from home or afar.

Winter is the season of drawing in. The lights dim low as nature encourages you to go inward. We attune to what surrounds us so we might navigate where we are headed and play the patterns to our favor.

Consider joining along with @alchemyoftheself starting Sunday, December 18th. Dates and details linked in bio.

Yoga is a journey…

Remaining steadfast, for the thing that seems to slip by more often then I can count, has been the ultimate test.

In these moments I remember it is much more than the poses that keep me ecstatic and inspired. The ideas. The metaphors. The connections, big and small, help propel me forward despite the obstacles I face.

This is why I started @alchemyoftheself - at first I thought it might be a book. A compilation and accumulation of the things I have acquired. And yet, it is more tangible. Applicable. It is a practice. A series. Within the seasons of nature to gain insight to the seasons of our lives.

Join me this Winter Attunement, the beauty of community and connection without boundaries.
