And just like that, the song of Purple Summer has sung its last breath 💜🪻☀️

But somehow, what we have breathed into this production will stay with us all and carry us along. The love I feel for these people is unparalleled, and I am so grateful to have traveled down this path with each of them. When I was finding who this character was, I found a quote in German, which roughly translates to “What Little Hans doesn’t learn when he is young, he will never learn.” While for the character it’s very revealing, I don’t think resonates much with what life is. We, as human beings, have this hunger for constant learning: about ourselves, about others, about this world. This knowledge we are taking in mold us into who we will become in our adult lives, and how we treat those around us. Along this path, we must learn compassion, love, respect, understanding and empathy for each other if we are to be successful and kind people.

On a less mushy note, everyone involved in this have been absolutely badass, and we would not have been able to bring this important art to beautiful life without every corner in theater lifting it up: the cast, creative geniuses (@kody.c.jones @sarah_drummer), technical wizards and ever hard-working production team.

Not gone… Not gone. 💜💜

This closing for me is a little bittersweet. This show has done so much for me in it’s short lifespan. I have made new lifelong friendships, rekindled old ones, and all of those in between. It was an honor and a blessing to work with each and every one of you in this cast. If I could do this show again with you all 100 times over, I would say yes, in a heartbeat. But all good things must come to an end. This is something I will cherish forever. Thank you to the cast and crew of Spring Awakening for letting me be your Melchior ❤️❤️
