I chose to call this painting “One Tough Out”. It was inspired by the movie “A League Of Their Own”. It depicts a woman baseball player at bat standing straight and strong with a look of poise and confidence. Wearing the uniform of the Fort Wayne Daisies from the All American Professional Baseball League she is connected to Rockwell’s “Rosie the Riveter” who is, in turn, connected to a figure from the Sistine Chapel painted by Michelangelo.

We had an unforgettable weekend at the WooSox game, where our nonprofit was honored and celebrated Charles Steinberg as our TroubleMaker for Good 🥳 But the highlight? Being on the field with Maybelle Blair — a true legend and pioneer.

Maybelle pitched for the AAGPBL’s Peoria Redwings in 1948, inspired the film A League of Their Own, spent 37 years breaking barriers in aerospace at Northrop, and in recent years, has championed both women’s baseball and LGBTQ visibility—and even came out publicly at age 95.

To share a moment with someone who literally shaped the game and continues to inspire generations—that’s real Good Trouble in action.
