I’m just a fan that stepped up with a story to tell.

A massive thank you to everyone who supports the page, sends messages and shares the love for football history. The kind words from fellow fans mean more than you know. This is bigger than just kits and clubs — it’s about the people and memories that make football special. 🙌

🇮🇪💜 JAY O’SHEA: A NEW CHAPTER AT PERTH GLORY!

Born in Dublin, Ireland, on 10 August 1988, Jay O’Shea has taken a long road through football before arriving at Perth Glory.

O’Shea began his career in Ireland with Home Farm, Bray Wanderers and Galway United before earning a move to English Premier League club Birmingham City in 2009. He made his Premier League debut against Manchester United before going on to represent Middlesbrough, Stevenage, Port Vale, MK Dons, Chesterfield, Sheffield United and Bury.

Along the way, he collected promotion-winning honours with Chesterfield, Sheffield United and Bury, establishing himself as a creative attacking midfielder with an eye for goal.

In 2019, he made the move to Australia to join Brisbane Roar, where he became one of the club’s most influential players. Across 156 A-League appearances, he scored 27 goals, earned two PFA A-League Team of the Season selections and became a respected leader in Queensland. ⚽️

Now, after six seasons in Brisbane, O’Shea begins a new chapter with Perth Glory.

At 38, the experienced Irishman brings years of professional football, creativity and leadership to the west coast. Can he help Glory climb the A-League ladder and become a key figure in their revival?

The A-League kicked off in 2005, marking a new era for football in Australia. After the end of the old National Soccer League, eight foundation clubs began a new chapter, bringing fresh ambition and a new generation of fans into the stands. From the early Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC rivalry to the unforgettable players, iconic kits (identical bar colours in those first 2 years), packed terraces and the birth of new football traditions, those early years helped shape the game we watch today.

But while we celebrate how far the A-League has come, let’s not forget the past. The NSL, the clubs, the communities and the generations of football fans who kept the game alive long before the A-League existed.

You can’t understand where Australian football is going without remembering where it came from and this one I will take my time and go to each club to ensure I get the stories correct and show traditional football the respect it deserves.
