Spring/Summer 2024 recap

A highlight reel showing the beautiful moments during a challenging chapter. Illness doesn’t always look like you think it does and it’s not always visible. I tend to create moments where making the best of things makes it look like I lead a charmed life - and I do, truly, minus of course the inconvenience of everything that happened recently.

And I think that’s it, isn’t it?

Continue with life the best you can even when you’re faced with difficulties? It’s not easy but these moments with friends and family have given me normalcy and brought me back to myself during times I found tough to navigate.

All these people in this highlight reel (and everyone else who I don’t have a photo of) gave me little glimmers that made it entirely more bearable. 💕

I MADE THE @forbes #30UNDER30 LIST, MOMMY🥹

My mom sent me this text (swipe left) just three months before I lost her to breast cancer.

Today, I’m celebrating--with a heavy heart--that I’ve reached a milestone we didn’t know I’d be celebrating without her here.

All those 80 hour work-weeks @chisamayne and I put in was worth it, mommy.

The tables I waited at the club and those floors Chisa mopped at the gym after-work hours just to do it all over again the next day.

All those people who refused to believe in us…were wrong…

All those people who said we wouldn’t make it…were wrong…

All those people who said we shouldn’t “focus on the Black thing”... were wrong…

All of those people who told us in 2020 that DEI is just a “nice to have” but “no one needs it”...were wrong…

All of those people who blocked investments or deals…were wrong…

We had conviction in ourselves.

We had conviction in the problem we were solving.

We fell in love with our customer…not our solution.

We fell in love with the process of becoming who we were meant to be by sacrificing who we were.

We wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for some of you who believed in us when NO ONE else did.

So all I have to say is thank you.

This is NOT our win. It’s yours.

Each and every one of you who casted a vote for us along the way.

Thank y’all for supporting me after graduating @rutgersu.

Thank you for seeing me, hearing me and always amplifying my voice.

Thank you @iamdanielreji for being a rockstar and inspiring me and Chisa to put our minds together to create PeduL.

Thank you PROFESSORS for challenging us to “eliminate the box.”

Thank you @rulebreakeru for teaching me how to leverage everything I was taught by society to hate about myself.

Thank you @techstars for investing in US and seeing US as people first, founders second.

Thank you to EVERY FRIEND who’s ever let me crash on their couch or lean on their shoulder when times got MORE THAN tough.
