In 2024 my whole family visited our village of Farmakas, Cyprus all together for the first time. Yiayia knew a few of us were coming but when everyone showed up it was a surprise that took all the air out of her lungs hahaha

She asked us if we could visit her village Agios Nikolaos in the occupied northern side together so we packed some food from Papous farm and off we went in 4 cars.

I think about this day a lot, it’s one i’ll never forget and am so grateful to have been able to live it with everyone together

I find it so hard to even compute that our grandparents were once kids so to have gone to where Yiayia grew up and explore the places she used to run around and play felt nostalgic but in a generational way? Can we pass on nostalgia? I don’t know but I felt it. It’s interesting how at home I feel when I get to travel to Cyprus, I didn’t grow up there and have only been a handful of times but the feeling when i’m there is unexplainable. Home truly is a feeling and I think we pass it on.
