Chaos at the surface off Punta Brava, on Colombia’s remote Chocó coast.

A school of tuna exploding out of the water as they chase a ball of tiny sardines across the surface — a rarely documented feeding frenzy in one of the most uncharted regions of the Eastern Pacific.

The Wild Pacific Coast of Chocó region and Punta Brava continues to surprise. Visit @ecohotelpuntabrava to join the adventure.
Much more to come.

It may seem like this video is going in reverse. Actually our very skilled boat crew had to literally back into the protected cove @ecohotelpuntabrava - this was a great sunset and celebration after an amazing day chasing the #sardinerun in #chococolombia

In the remote waters off Punta Brava, along Colombia’s wild Chocó coast, something extraordinary appears beneath the surface.

The region remains largely uncharted both above and below the waterline. What is known: Punta Brava is home to a sardine run. Massive schools move along this wild Pacific coastline. And predators follow. Here is a majestic #whaleshark following the column.

The Chocó region continues to reveal how little we truly know about our oceans.

Having witnessed sardine runs in South Africa — home to the world’s largest migration — as well as in Lofoten, Norway and Cebu in the Philippines, it was remarkable to encounter a similar spectacle in one of the most isolated corners of the Eastern Pacific.
