COMMON SKIN FANTASY BY ALICIA BILBAO AND ALEJANDRA MOROS “Common Skin Fantasy marks the first time the two artists’ works have existed in dialogue, creating an environment where materials, conceptual references, and audience projections expand in uncanny ways. Drawing on Didier Anzieu’s psychoanalytic concept of the ‘common skin fantasy’, the exhibition considers a state in which physical and psychological boundaries between self and other have not yet fully formed. Across sculpture and painting, fragmented bodies, artificial and organic materials, prosthetics, animal skins and spectral forms become part of tender, fictional environments where those boundaries remain unstable.” Artists: @amnesia.ax, @alemoros Text: #CatherineMaryCamargo KDR Gallery, Miami, USA 5 September - 10 October 2026

The paradox of universality -  the harder you try to make art that is relatable, the less relatable it becomes.  But somehow, everyone can connect with the super intimate works laced with hidden unknowable personal significance.  The more specific and niche you go the wider the appeal. Seems counterintuitive, no?  Listening to @alemoros and @amnesia.ax talk about these works was funny because there’s no way to intuit their experience of the work; it’s so specific, but then everyone in the audience seemed to see themselves in the pieces.  I guess the most universal experience is being a person. So when you make art for yourself people light up and go, “oh! I also have a self! I understand this!” 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Common Skin Fantasy Alicia Bilbao & Alejandra Moros @kdr305 September 5th – October 10th, 2026

A small reliquary of claws, folded as if in prayer. In Dulce Compañía, Alejandra Moros paints the feet of an iguana at rest, their scales catching light like fine silver thread. The title comes from the old guardian angel prayer, rooted in the Latin Angele Dei: “Ángel de la guarda, dulce compañía.” Sweet company, keeping watch by night and by day, even here. @alemoros Alejandra Moros Dulce Compañía, 2026 Oil on canvas 8 x 40 in. | 20.32 x 101.60 cm On view in Common Skin Fantasy at KDR. Didier Anzieu called it the common skin fantasy: an infant held skin to skin through daily care feels no border between its body and its mother’s. Alicia Bilbao and Alejandra Moros, showing together for the first time at KDR in Miami, build a room on that belief and on the moment it gives way. Dog hair and resin. A surgical needle, nylon thread. Bones, beeswax, a nokogiri saw, tufts of the sculptor’s own hair. The material lists read like the inventory of a reliquary kept by a field surgeon. Nothing in the room is quite a body. Much of it was grown by one. @kdr305 @amnesia.ax @alemoros 🔗 cult.now

This painting comes from a tender place. Alejandra painted a supernumerary tooth, an extra little tooth that shows up where it isn’t expected, and it carries a memory of her sibling, who once had one gently coaxed down with tiny chains attached to their braces. The painting also nods to Hans Bellmer’s 1958 photograph of Unica Zürn, with part of the title borrowed from Zürn’s own writing. Strange, soft, and full of love for the ways our bodies surprise us. On view now in Common Skin Fantasy with Alicia Bilbao at KDR 🦷💗 @alemoros #AlejandraMoros #CommonSkinFantasy #KDRGallery #doihavesomethibginmyteeth Images by @gayaman_photo

Interview with @alemoros Alejandra Moros (b. 2000, Miami, FL) utilizes painting, drawing, and found objects to explore themes of transformation, science fiction, and adaptation, stemming from an interest in the ways that body modification can serve as a marker of time, place, and intention. She continues to live and work in Miami, exploring the ways in which these themes connect to Florida’s landscape.
