I met @alenabeee in the 2023 debuts group and latched onto her (as I do) after I read and fell in love with her debut, Ever Since. Here’s what I’ll say about Alena: she has so much range as a writer (like how does her brain come up with these ideas!?!), is such a strong human and is criminally underrated (as most of my favorite authors are tbh). Check out her backlist, there is seriously something for everyone. And this blurb she wrote? Means the world. I can’t wait to officially meet her in NYC and attempt to break into the Penguin offices! 🤗 ps: her books feel like this song 💚

Maybe the thing I love most about New York is that nothing changes while everything changes. I met a lot of amazing people and took pictures with none of them (at least on my phone). Until we meet again! 🍎🗽

Hello everyone, and welcome to New Release Tuesday, a celebration and highlight of new books entering our hands, hearts, and credit card billing statements (we love supporting authors!!!)! Here you will find a sampling of some books that have me sat and which I’m looking forward to picking up (or have already picked up) - from romance, to contemporary novels, to manga, to non-fiction, something is sure to catch your eye!

I am so very ready to be done rotating on the trauma service - yes I know it’s now Wednesday proper, but you try working sunrise to sunrise and see how you like it! WHile I’m recovering from working teenage hours in a middle-aged body, enjoy another wonderful week of book selections for your summer TBR! Part 2 is up, and I am down!

Fun fact, apparently books are released on Tuesdays to align with sales reporting cycles and maximize visibility on bestseller lists - especially the New York Times list (themoreyouknow.gif). I like to think it’s so we get a treat for surviving Mondays, but I will also take the opportunity to turn every single little positive thing into a physical or metaphorical sweet treat, so there’s that.

Do you have any of these books on your TBR (you should!)? What are you grabbing on your next bookstore run?

Also, if you know any upcoming books that deserve a shout-out on their release day, please leave them below so I can feature them (ESPECIALLY if they are indie reads, and/or if it’s your book! Publishing is a huge accomplishment!)

Happy release day to The Broken Edge of the World by @alenabeee . I had such a lovely time narrating this beautiful story. Big thanks to the amazing team at @prhaudio and incredible director October Crifasi!

🌿🌾🍃

Sylvie has taken a summer job at a remote and alluring prairie preserve in the middle of the Great Plains. It’s a much-needed escape—from her sadness, from her cruelly distant father, and maybe even from herself: She longs to be free of the intrusive, obsessive thoughts that are her constant burden.

Soon, she finds herself drawn to a stunning shepherd boy and can’t stop herself from going to him at night, even though she’s been warned to keep away. During the day, though, she begins to develop a friendship with another boy, a strange-looking and strangely gentle coworker named Jack . . . and gradually to uncover the mysteries of this place that feels more like home than anyplace has before it.

But those mysteries include a powerful curse, and when she uncovers the truth of it, she becomes recklessly determined to break it—to free the one trapped in its spell. She fails to consider the possibility that her actions could break much more than just the curse, and that some burdens demand to be borne.
