Philadelphia Distance Run 13.1 miles ✔️

Fun, very quick trip to Philly to run a half marathon. No one ran very well but we enjoyed it!

***Oh and I did get to get to meet and get picture with Patrick Kiprop (for any other professional running nerds like me!)

Thus we may know that there are five essentials for victory:
1 He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.
2 He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces.
3 He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout all its ranks.
4 He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared.
5 He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign.

I’ve been around this game my entire life. I’ve played in the big leagues, coached some of the best young players in the country, worked with USA Baseball, and evaluated talent at every level.

I’m not in the habit of publicly advocating for players.
I’m doing it this time. Layne Akers is much more than a stat line. He’s the kind of player coaches love once they get him in their clubhouse.

A relentless competitor.
A high-character young man.
A teammate who raises the standard.
A player who loves to be coached and gets better every day.

His versatility is what separates him.

✔️ Above-average outfielder
✔️ Average to above-average infielder with continued development
✔️ Legitimate third catching option
✔️ 6.6 runner
✔️ High baseball IQ
✔️ Tough. Selfless. Reliable.

2026:
• .324 AVG
• .388 OBP
• .529 SLG
• .917 OPS
• All-CUSA
• CUSA Hitter of the Week
• TSWA Player of the Week

The portal isn’t always fair.

Sometimes players get overlooked because they aren’t playing summer ball.
Sometimes injuries hide how talented they really are.
Sometimes versatility gets mistaken for “not having a position.”

Don’t make that mistake.

His decision is coming soon.

If you’re looking for someone who makes your lineup better, your defense better, your clubhouse better, and your culture better…

Whoever lands Layne Akers is going to get far more than they think.
