POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Over 30 years ago, my sister started a little neighborhood 4th of July parade.

My cousin and I helped carry it on for years, and somewhere along the way, it stopped belonging to just our family and became a tradition for an entire community.

Papa always led the way.

12 years after he’s been gone, the parade still rolls on.

The kids on rollerblades grew up. The little ones in the golf cart grew up. But the parade never did. 🇺🇸❤️

The route is the same. The faces are different. The magic remains.

New families moved in. New children took their place in the line, and now I have got to watch my own kids wave their flags and make the very same memories we did.

I guess that’s the beautiful thing about traditions—they were never meant to belong to just one person. We simply get the privilege of being part of their story for a little while.

A true legacy. 🇺🇸❤️
