last night, we celebrated fish’s birthday. yes, i know fish is blue. don’t ask me why fish is blue. when you see the blue man in these slides, don’t ask me what is wrong with him, and why he is blue.

My favourite part of this research journey is time spent in nature. Contending with the heat and humidity is challenging, but worth it for moments surrounded by all this green and the whispers of ancient trees, yarning with each other across the forest canopy. I reckon they were having a debate about us trampling creatures with our heavy equipment and strange ways. In a moment of quiet watching and listening a beautiful black and purple butterfly flew to inspect Alex and I. Shaq says its the ancestors welcoming us.

oh, the occasion was grand as the occasion of the princess ball arrived! the princesses conversed, the barkeeper huffed his pipe, and slowly but surely, the effects of mead started to hinder the royal image they swore to uphold.

I'm thrilled to be curating this exhibition in collaboration with @alexandeer , with contributions from First Nations artists (To be announced). This exhibition explores the art of Trevor Nickolls, bringing two worlds together. Dreamtime to Machinetime. Ancestral stories with new world tech. A reimagining of the works of Trevor Nickolls is a perfect way to explore the past, present, and future through Indigenous storytelling and immersive exhibition design.

The Legacy of Trevor Nickolls: Reimagined by Kat Bell is part of this year's Tarnanthi Festival, supported by @agsa.adelaide.

Opening: 19 October at 2pm @AIARTS Gallery, Belair SA.

Video: interactive AR totemic bird created by Alex DeGaris-Boot.

Tomorrow night is our final showing of UNPLUGGED and it’s definitely been a wild journey…
I’ve been trying to write music nearly all my life and so much held me back over the years, having the confidence to put it out into the world has not been the easiest thing for me to do because it’s essentially like reading your secret journal to a room full of strangers! What started as just a few hooks and poetic words over very mediocre piano playing has grown into a complete album and I really only have one person to thank for that. @alexandeer took those ideas and turned them into the songs they’ve become and I absolutely could not have done it without you! Writing and producing these 12 songs from our very modest house in the burbs has been so incredibly challenging along with all my whacky ideas and constant lyric and arrangement changes, you’ve never given up on me or my potential as a singer/ songwriter and as well as our combined dream of performing original music. To watch you grow into an absolutely legendary guitarist is just one more gift I’ve been lucky enough to receive as your partner and I’ll never not be mesmerised at how easily we understand each other (most of the time! Haha!)

There’s only a handful of tickets left for tomorrow night and it would mean the world to us if we sold out our final show! Links in the bio for tix, would love to see you all there! 💕 @chapelandyurt @adlfringe
