My feelings for you manifest in the same way as they do when I see an animal that I want to squish the cheeks of, or a beautiful view that makes me giddy about the world we live in. It’s hard to put my feelings into words, because there are so many that come to mind! You’re fiercely independent, protective, loyal, sweet, generous and a little bit mysterious too.

With you there is no one to perform for, approval to seek or special role to play. With you I feel safe, unfiltered and my problems feel physically less heavy under your gentle scrutiny. You came into my life in a way I’ll never forget, in a way made me realize the buoyancy and support that a good friend can offer. 23 in the Philippines. There’s a familiar feeling in this warm and noisy place. I think it’s all the aunties.

Traveler’s remorse is a common affliction among impressionable young broads, living abroad.

But just because you have the occasional crisis, doesn’t mean you’re in the wrong place. Everyone knows new places have their quirks, especially rural islands.

I have collected three dogs, one cat, a taste for San Miguel Pilsner, and a desire to listen to Christmas music in September.

The trick to overcoming any traveler’s remorse is finding your why and always finding ways to remember it. I try to move slowly and pay attention to details, so the wind can blow me nicely in the right direction.
