I’ve learned more than I ever could’ve imagined in these last 4 years (maybe more outside lectures than in them). So grateful for everyone who taught me something along the way, supported me, and believed in me. No better teaching grounds than @ubishops

Also… turns out life doesn’t end when you fail calculus :)

Step 2 starts this fall at @ubcimp, I’m feeling excited (and extremely nervous) to begin my MD undergrad at the UBC Island Medical Program.

FIRST MARATHON, GENEVA MARATHON DONE🏃‍♀️🤩😭

I could not have asked for a better first race. Started strong and finished even stronger.

Everyone says the race only starts at 30km and they were right. I don’t know if it was the impatience to finish, my stubbornness to beat my goal time, or my AMAZING PACER @alexdiotte_ , but I’ve never run that fast in my life. PB’d my 5km, 10km, 15km, and half marathon all in the second half of the race and finished MY FIRST MARATHON in 3:49:58.

I could not be more proud of myself.

There were a lot of factors that could’ve made this race go differently, but after 2 years of recovery, my concussion wasn’t one of them. That’s what made this race even more special. I was able to raise $1,900 for the @concussionfoundation.ca an organization dedicated to solving the concussion crisis through research, treatment, and prevention of brain trauma and its mental health impacts across athletes, youth, military personnel, and other at-risk groups.

Running is often the last step in return-to-play protocols, and for a long time it was something I couldn’t do without relapsing symptoms. I genuinely didn’t know if I’d ever get back to high-intensity sports, but this race proved to me that I could.

Whether you’ve experienced a TBI or are supporting someone through recovery, they have so many amazing resources available. I know firsthand how lonely recovery can feel, so please don’t hesitate to reach out for support.

The CLF helpline provides FREE and personalized support for both patients and caregivers. I reached out to them myself and within 24 hours was connected with someone who gave me the resources I needed to start my recovery journey. ❤️
