“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” - 📖 John‬ ‭4‬:‭24‬ ‭ These were Jesus’ words spoken to the woman at the well. Echoing His true intentions for us from the garden up until this very moment. Regardless of religious or non-religious background, we want to partner with the Holy Spirit to cultivate spaces of sincere worship and encounter in the city of Austin📍 We want to witness the redeeming power of the Lamb at work within and around us. This is not a church. This is a flint for revival. Feel free to DM us if you’d like to learn more! Credit: 🎨 Logo: @alexharodesign

“Draw near to God & he will draw near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, & purify your hearts, you doubleminded.” James 4:8 We may live in a dirty world but Jesus has cleansed our hearts. This is all fulfilled in the Old Testament because when people would go to a priest for repentance (now we can go to Jesus our High Priest, but before it was a priest) the priest couldn’t just show up without first washing their hands. There was a ceremony they went through, a way of saying “sinful man can’t just stand before God." There had to be a washing. A sacrifice. But it got perverted. It got distorted. They had made it all about them & what they would do for God. They would wash their hands with a boastful spirit and in public. Giving themselves praise. These pharisees later found fault in Jesus because his disciples didn’t follow their added on traditions. (side note, if you look for faults, you’ll always find them) Jesus was healing people. Could they have looked for that? No. He was preaching God’s Word. Could they have looked for that? No. What the pharisees didn’t understand was that the whole culture of washing hands was never meant to be a boastful religious thing that was happening on the outside. It was about a supernatural reality that God wanted to do on the inside. It wasn’t as much about WASHED HANDS as WASHED HEARTS. Maybe the problem isn’t what you ARE doing but its what you ARENT doing. Its not through keeping the law or our religious achievements. Its only by the love of Jesus we can truly be made clean. - @summatimeee_1
