the end of a chapter. @lsu_sg thank you for the greatest five years, introducing me to some of the greatest people in my life, for creating opportunities i never imagined to be possible, and allowing me to continuously create change in a supporting and empowering environment.

from freshman leadership council, student senate, ad of finance, director of finance, graduate assistant, psif, orf, stf, countless hours and everything between, student government has consistently been an organization i could call home.

i am grateful for every moment, challenge, and person i have met along the way. a very special thank you to mrs cortney, dr b, and all of the other mentors who have supported me throughout my time in student government, ga pfeff out

On Wednesdays, we are reminded of our mission.

Alexis Larkin, a Senior at LSU who is also our Director of Education, speaks about why being a member of FACE Forward is important to her!

“Hey everyone! My name is Alexis Larkin, and I am a senior biology major planning on applying to medical school in the upcoming cycle. I joined F.A.C.E. because of my experience working as a medical assistant on a cleft and craniofacial team. Day after day, I meet families navigating the emotions that come with receiving a diagnosis, including fear, uncertainty, and the unknown. Many of these families have never known someone with a cleft lip and palate, and I have shared in both their successes and their setbacks throughout their journey.
Alongside the emotional challenges, I also see the heavy financial concerns families face, with parents worrying about how they will afford orthodontic care, surgeries, or the speech therapy their child may need.
I joined F.A.C.E. because I want to help bridge the gap in education, awareness, and resources. Through advocacy and fundraising, I hope to ensure families feel supported by a strong community and are not burdened by financial fear, allowing them to focus fully on their child’s health and well-being. I am excited to serve as the Director of Education this semester and work with a phenomenal team that shares a strong passion for our club. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with LSU students while helping F.A.C.E. further its mission.”
