I am so happy to take the class. I made some mistakes but I had a lot of fun while doing so and got to meet a lot of new people. I hope to see some of them again soon someday. Thank you again @ilovedancenyc for the class and @yingscreation for recording it. 💕💕💕

We got the title wrong on the flyer , but you know the film we are talking about beautiful people “Descendant.” On All Souls Day - UPROSE invites you to join us in watching
"Descendant” -Lets share food and honor our Ancestors together-
these are the 5 things we have heard about this film:

#1
It is rich and skillful storytelling by director Margaret Brown, which centers the voices of Africatown community members who eloquently capture the depth and width of Africatown’s experiences and ongoing challenges.
#2
The film illuminates the humanity of enslaved Africans, and the human-effect of enslavement upon their descendants to this day – now four generations later.

#3
It makes the clear case for reparations.
#4
The film poignantly connects the effects of environmental racism as a continuation of white supremacy and a legacy of enslavement – just like the criminal justice system.

#5
“Descendant” gathers an amazing group of relations, community leaders, and advocates. You can learn so much from their personal courage, resolve, and clarity of purpose.

On the podcast, we've been meeting there for quite a while now- almost two years ins just a few weeks- long enough to get to re-get to know each other pretty well all over again.

It was five years ago today- February 28, 2017- when we started this adventure on #TheUpdate together.

I just wanted to take a little time out and just say thanks to all that have made me better at what I do. I'm eternally grateful every day. I also want to thank all who listen to the show- then and now.

But most importantly, thanks for taking a chance on me to give you the news each day. It hasn't always been smooth sailing, but I'd like to think that I've helped make things at least a little clearer each day, and have the best of times whenever you listen to us.

This show has been the honor of my life. It's been a privilege- one that I've never taken lightly, and one that I'll continue to fulfill for you- because we're all in this together. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
