We busted out of the Bondi bubble today and rolled down to Maroubra. Feels like a whole new postcode — different sandbanks, different swell window, different crew. Less matcha, fewer run clubs, and not a fitness influencer in sight. Just surf.⁠

The middle peak was a little abrupt/unpredictable, but every now and then a tidy little rippable runner snuck through. A clean westerly puff groomed the surface, while a fading south swell still managed to throw up the odd 2–3 footer. Plenty of high-performance shredding — the talent pool down the ’Bra always runs deep.⁠

As I bang away on the keyboard, the sun is holding strong. Forecast is clear for the rest of today, and actually for the whole week. Yes, you read right — no rain this week. I repeat, no rain this week.⁠

Well well well, long time no see my loyal followers. Thank you for sticking with the Pundits through this turbulent time, I’ll save you the long story, all I can say is write down your passwords and don’t bail on the Sultan to live in London.

We’re at The DOG tonight. Our original fans may remember this being our second location, but since the Sultan wasn’t present for that it was prudent he had the final say regarding this establishment. An absolute all star team joined me for dinner tonight, some debutants and some regulars.

Apologies for the shocking photos. Blame the rookie photographer for the group photo, and Justin Hemmes for his obsession with dark mood lighting for the inside shots.

Completely winging this review, don’t remember the format at all.

Price: $30. A sign of the times. Cost of living crisis. The CFO has plenty of thoughts about this, none are positive.
Chicken: Skillful crumbing, structural integrity was strong throughout. Good serving size of pure aussie chook.
Chips: I really enjoyed the seasoning. Some were on the lukewarm side though, tsk tsk.
Salad: Coleslaw is risky as discussed in past reviews. They made it work though
Cheese: Good quantity, the quality was damaged by some overzealous roasting, it was a tad burnt.
Ham: love a bit of pig on my plate, didn’t disappoint.
Sauce: nothing negative about it crossed my mind so it did the job

Overall: 75/100, not as high as the original score, maybe an off night, maybe budget cuts in the kitchen? Who knows.

Thanks for sticking with us 🙏 everyone abuse @shoemarshall for being impossible to organise dinner with.
