Sweeter than fiction

I don't know the word to use to describe the way the last few weeks have felt. @_thespotinc is my passion project and watching my nonprofit transform from events I used to put on at school into what happened Saturday is surreal. I cried a lot last week, I'm still just in awe at everything that happened to pull this "Black Ass Cookout" off. I've been working hard and making this happen for years, but seeing the impact grow so much in such a short time is unbelievable. My team put their literal blood, sweat and tears into making this happen. I'll never be able to thank them enough. Having 3,064 people RSVP, 2800+ actually showing up and hundreds of thousands of people acknowledging and appreciating our work is so overwhelmingly beautiful. We fed all our supporters for free, made a space for businesses to thrive and for Black people of all ages to just fellowship in a SAFE space. No shooting, no fighting, no violence, just pure love. This was life-changing. All I can say is that I'm grateful.
Grateful for my team, my community, every person who showed love, believed in us and most importantly grateful to be able to say that something so meaningful to so many other people is mine. If this is how we celebrated year one, I can't even imagine what we'll do next.
