. Sometimes when we see things that frighten us in the mirror we seek out humanity to know if others can see the same, only to realise how few notice anything, and I suppose that’s the benchmark of humanity, when someone can sense an other’s pain to see not just the possession but the soul lost beneath, and although such senses aren‘t lost, we’ve evolved to blunt them, since they’re not benign and thus subject to our own feelings, and therefore pain, and so we’ve learned to unsee, which itself doesn‘t just come from blinding oneself, for we must see enough to know to obscure what we recognize in front of us, like a gate that shuts out the feelings of others; a deeper viewfinder that closes out the light that might absorb such darkness, and so we’ve trained our senses to look away without flinching or to blink an eye, lest we signal to ourselves something is there to alert reflection, that might make us temporarily break away from our own obsessions, for which all our words and actions are derived, and therefore subservient. And so maybe the thing that frightens is that it’s really the same reflection we’ve always seen, and that’s why others see no change; that it’s just what we really are, revealed when occasionally our mind is tired of life’s illusions and forgets to show the face we‘ve grown to see, the slowly fading veneer we’ve convinced ourselves is there, and not the less palatable reality of ourselves, the one we’ve grown comfortable to hide, and to shield ourselves from the gaze of others, yet we’re really part of the same shared mirror, lost in a collective reflection, an illusion that‘s become our reality; the construct of acquired memories we‘ve painted ourselves with ever since we found a malleable material to shape and form to create our identity, and which now we find ourselves locked within, and despite our attempts to shed this outer skin that sits so uncomfortably upon us, we’re all the same underneath, for it’s not the outer membrane we’re seeking to conceal or obscuring our vision, but the thing no eyes can see; the corrupted soul that’s our ghost, haunting every corridor, turning dreams to nightmares, while we blindly fix our skin #NinaSchöenfeld #FuckTheSystem #DiskursBerlin #AlfredCamp #SurfaceTension #UnderTheSkin #FixOurSkin #HauntedHouse #possession #LostPossessions #Ghosts #Soul #CorruptedSoul #BlankPage #Sleep #Fear#Imagination #LookingIntoTheVoid #WordsAndImages #TruthAndLies #Truth #Skin #Lies #Remembering #Memories #Deceit #Veneers #Illusions #Dreams #Nightmares #DreamsBecomeTrue #DreamsBecomeNightmares #AlfredCampArtist #BerlinArt #BritishArtist #IrishArtist #AlfredCampPhotographer #BritishPhotographer #IrishPhotographer #ArtWriting #ArtCriticism #ArtCritic #ArtInterpretations #AlfredCampWriter #BritishWriter #IrishWriter #Berlin #BerlinWriter #BerlinArt #BerlinArtist #BerlinPhotography #BerlinPhotographer #BritishInBerlin #IrishInBerlin #IrishPhotographer #BritishPhotographer #AlfredCampinBerlin

'Tranh arrives at a farm in South Wales to rescue a man who is being held in captivity as a slave. To do so he must negotiate an unsettling transaction with the head woman of the family. Tranh was not counting on the troubling morality of the transaction which toys with him during the strange night he spends on the farm.' . Most of what we believe we see is in fact not there at all. Although we assume our senses are telling us the truth, they’re actually fabricated by us because we can’t possibly process the world around us in such detail so quickly, and so it is left to our memory to fill in the blanks. . But what if our mind is playing tricks with us, and the world we think we see each day and take for granted is in fact based upon corrupted memories? So just as an anorexic person sees themselves in the mirror as overweight and we may see them as underweight, maybe we are all victims of similar false images or differing readings. . Therefore, as we navigate our way through life we are in constant dialogue with the world around us; nothing is benign, but packed with memory and meaning that we ourselves project onto the canvas in front of us. So it is our experiences that shapes the world around us and determines how we colour its images, so even our own reflection is cast in doubt. But if we are all filling in the blanks around us and colouring in these images from differing palettes then it also stands to reason there is no all-encompassing and true perspective of the world at all, no unified reality, just a multitude of differing interpretations, like a thousand drawings all drafted with different hands. . In this shifting field of realities that ripples against the perceptions of others and jostle between multiple perspectives, we can only ever see a slither of truth at any moment in time. So the question is how can we navigate a world that is inherently fragmented and as our fields of vision are narrowed, avoid becoming increasingly polarized? . Maybe it’s time to recognize that our world is only built of partial truths in multiple perspectives. That our clear view is in fact more hazy, and that embracing the unreliability and multiplicity of perceived realities is fundamental to navigating the world we believe we see in front of us, and in doing so help us to make informed life decisions. . . . . . . Going back in time to when women were asking me to run away with them for an easy life, but instead I chose to go to Berlin for the money, jolly people, great weather, and wonderful ironic humour! 🏝🛥☀️ #AlfredCamp #SelfReflection #AlfredCampInBerlin #AlfredCamp

. Sometimes when one is attracted by the gaze of another, it isn’t because one wants to leave the person one is with, but to leave the person one has become. So it isn’t because one really desires to meet another person at all, but to be free to become a different self; to shed the accumulation of self doubts and limitations that we perceive to have buried ourselves in, or are now framed by, and so we’re really seeking to release ourselves from behind the bars we have become to recognize as our reflection, for there is no greater attraction, or greater other, than a different version of yourself. So within this locked prism we recognize as ourself, which we find as hard to escape from as our shadow on a sunny day, it’s as if one can only become this new self within the frame of a different mirror, and thus only able to shape ourselves into this new pristine form in its untainted reflection. We all have different mirrors we lose ourselves in, we just don’t recognize them as such, but maybe if one could learn to love one‘s own reflection, the one that greets us before our eyes have recognized where they are, there would be no need to run to another because we would see that we are already everything we need and everything we can become #JulianJavobKneer #MietinenCollection #SalonDahlmann #BerlinArt #BerlinGallery #SwedishArt #NordicArt #NeonArt #Mirror #Reflection #Self #SelfDoubt #Selflove #SelfRenewal #SelfAwareness #SelfAffirmation #SelfDiscovery #FreeYourMind#LoseSelfDoubt #RelationshipAdvice #BecomeYou #BecomeYourself #FindYourself #RefindYourself #AlfredCamp #SocialMedia #AlfredCampinBerlin #AlfredCamp #AlfredCampArtist #BritishPhotographer #IrishPhotographer #AlfredCampPhotographer #AlfredCampWriter #BritishWriter #IrishWriter #Berlin #BerlinArt #BerlinArtist #BerlinPhotography #BerlinPhotographer

. As an artist everything that is imagined can be made manifest in our hands, maybe sometimes too crudely for critical eyes, but in this world there is a mark that can be made, and an impact, even if it be sneers, until occasionally time has the last laugh and paints its own story of forgotten genius lost in the sea of fools. Now we seem all prepared to drown in our own private worlds, hypnotized in the waves, our little cracked shells happily lost and emptied of soul, and ready to be refilled by those who see opportunity in the void. We speak easily of high words that we don’t understand, pay empty platitudes to wood and plaster, and make promises we will never keep, especially to ourselves. In our unreal world only our pain makes us feel, everything else is a fake orgasm that we want to believe was real, and so we are only happy in losing ourselves, in leaving our bodies, and the endless resurrection offered in instant gratification. No pain can make us change from our course, we should surely know that by now, but we all have so much invested in our delusions we feel impelled to follow them to the bitter end. And unwittingly we are such great actors, we can convince ourselves of anything as long as the mirror is not looking and we can hide our gaze from the frame that we fear will unmask us. Maybe we were always lost, obsessed with filling the void with meaning, desperately seeking the right answers in the wrong places, our slow mutation lost in the trick of the mirrors we hide behind, but still cast their reflections on us like ghosts. So as the sun shines brightly and the birds sing, we can comfort ourselves in this new life, dreaming of rebirth in its glorious warmth, we can forget once again of the waves around us that can so easily extinguish our dreams of resurrection, and that the marks set to our canvas are indelible, and can bind us no less painfully
