This joyful soft blue abstract painting ‘Lockdown Vibe’ was inspired by light and reflections. Created back in those first sunny days of lockdown (when we didn’t think it would last long!) I painted this as a way to forget anxiety and focus on the uplifting joy of early spring sunshine and it still makes me feel happy when I stop and let myself get lost in it. It seems to be getting a positive reaction now it’s hanging on my gallery wall too.

It’s available on my website or you can come and enjoy it in my gallery at @applegarthfarm today (I’ll be closed over the weekend for the Coronation). If you have a perfect space for this why not treat yourself this weekend? (If you’re local you can try before you buy - just give me a call to discuss). Details below.

The gorgeous pots in the first photo complement this painting beautifully. They are hand-thrown in porcelain by the legendary @ali.tomlin

‘Lockdown Vibe’ Mixed media on canvas with layers of acrylic, pastel, pencil and collage.

Framed in a Conservation-grade bespoke slim wood frame (painted Farrow & Ball grey) . Titled and signed on reverse. Carefully packaged for delivery.

Canvas size: 75 x 75cm

Framed size: 78 x 78cm

Have a great weekend!

Less is more in one small corner of Mark Purllant’s exhibition ‘Shibui’ which opens on Wednesday 15 March at Gallery 6. A couple of additions Hannah Nunn lamps and a ceramic vase from Ali Tomlin are just enough to maintain that simplistic beauty which runs through the exhibition. More posts of the exhibition coming soon alternative visit www.gallery6newark.co.uk for a catalogue of all work available.

Georgia Elliott: “To begin, working with colour and texture is intuitive, building multiple layers gives me something to react to. As the painting begins to take shape, I use design and value to push the painting in the desired direction. Working on 4 -10 panels at a time keeps things fresh and allows me to react to the mark-making of the previous session.”
