I’ve done a mid-season break from structured training for 2 weeks and here is why.

I did quite a lot of races during the first half of 2026 — 10k, half marathon, multiple 70.3 races with a lot of travel. Besides this I try to manage all the Instagram work (yes, it’s work too).

Even if this is fun, it’s some kind of work. I noticed that I need some rest. Step away from a training plan for 2 weeks, refocus, collect energy, do other stuff.

With races @allgaeutriathlon, in Nice and Cascais on the horizon, I want to do a proper build-up with motivation high. It’s still a long time to go for these races, and with a late Ironman the season is very long. I don’t want to be burned out in September, so I decided to take a break.

Eating a lot, doing some group events, doing sports without any plan — just doing what I felt like that day.

Motivation is back. So I’m ready for action. Let’s go!!

Thanks for this!!
Some weeks ago I thought about hosting a shakeout ride to spin the legs one day after @challengekaiserwinklwalchsee — at this time I thought it would be great if 5 people would show up.

Yesterday 25 people showed up and I was happy everyone came. Triathletes, pros, locals, ultra cyclists — it was a fun mix of only nice people. Vibes were high, weather was perfect, route was a dream.

Rides like this remind me why I do all this. Bringing like-minded people together to have a good time on and off the bike.

Thanks everyone for joining. 🖤
