« Company » une exposition collective réunissant Georges J Ayrault, Archie Chekatouski, Nora Guislain, Boris Kurdi, Pierre Leguillon, Sara MacKillop, Haydée Marin & Camille Besson, Raphaël Massart et Alice Peach.

Depuis 2021, l’ancienne salle de bal du Café des Glaces accueille des expositions. Pour « Company », une structure scénographique organise l’accrochage et la circulation. Elle se compose de parois en carton, disposées en retrait des murs, dont les joints restent apparents. Elle emprunte un élément de façade à la Guild House de Robert Venturi et articule supports, ouvertures et surfaces d’exposition. Elle produit des relations de proximité et des cadrages entre les œuvres, tout en laissant visible l’architecture existante.

“Company” A group exhibition bringing together Georges J Ayrault, Archie Chekatouski, Nora Guislain, Boris Kurdi, Pierre Leguillon, Sara MacKillop, Haydée Marin & Camille Besson, Raphaël Massart and Alice Peach.

Since 2021, the former ballroom of the Café des Glaces has hosted exhibitions. For “Company”, a scenographic structure organises the display and circulation within the space. It consists of cardboard walls set back from the existing walls, with their joints left visible. It borrows an element of the façade of Robert Venturi’s Guild House and articulates supports, openings and exhibition surfaces. It creates relationships of proximity and framing between the works while leaving the existing architecture visible.

This has already caused a major blurring between the private and public spheres, between the home and the office. The clear separation between work and rest disappears when a person can be reached by a boss at anytime, anywhere, unless specific rules are determined. Humans conduct business from their dinner table. They close deals from airplane seats. They solve work problems during a romantic date. Every second of our waking time becomes an opportunity for work.“

“When have offices entered our lives? Are they younger than houses? For most of the existence of our species, the office, our bread-winning practices, our work, was performed wherever we were in the world: fields, forests, savannas. Survival was to collect, to gather, and to hunt what the world could offer. We worked in the open. Not yet digital nomads but nomads all the same, we worked wherever our dwelling was at that time, preparing weapons, storing our food.”

Exhibition views from „270 Degrees“, a group exhibition concluding a two-week residency in Lorenzana, Pisa.

The exhibition takes its title from the owl, a symbolic figure of the region, whose remarkable ability to rotate its head 270 degrees serves as a metaphor for expanded perspectives, observation, and shifting points of view.

The exhibition presented works created during the residency, showcasing the artists’ responses to the local environment, culture, and shared experience.
