only 26 hours until the premiere of margarethe!
you can still get tickets! - 8:00 pm at topkino with an introduction, a performance by the incomparable hungry @isshehungry - and the cast in attendance.
don't miss out on this one-time event!

i mentioned yesterday that i wanted to share more. more about the world of gretchen (margarethe). for this, i brought the mother figure into sharp focus, wanting to concentrate on the dynamics of austrian patriarchal structures. and above all, since it is a theme in faust, what role religion plays - because i set the time in the 1970s!

none other than the incredible denice bourbon took on the role of the mother!

the cast was instructed that all performers are only allowed to speak in their mother tongue to illustrate that, although they are talking to each other, they are only focused on themselves and not truly listening.

see you tomorrow!

by @mwmlab

the time has come!
the premiere of margarethe is just around the corner! this thursday, 24.09. at 20:00 at topkino @topkino topkino, it finally happens!

i wanted to use this week to share more about margarethe.
connecting to the previously presented works of this takeover, i first want to mention julia petschinka, who was in the audience during soliloquize and shortly after at the cinema for the premiere of my short film sapere aude, with her in the title role! - julia held many different roles around the film margarethe:
* demon
* choreographies
* body training
* various assistances!

the film required several dance developments. first, i want to highlight the powerful creation of the walpurgis night dance, which is shown as a bonus after the credits. since the film focuses entirely on the female perspective-margarethe- faust was intentionally given no more space in the film than absolutely necessary. what he does after disappearing from the main story is only part of the credits.

due to schedule shifts caused by unstable weather in may 2025, several dancers were no longer available for the shoot.
consequently, julia petschinka and her fellow demon partner alice dee had to completely rework the choreography during a grueling 17-hour shooting day and reduce it to three people.
the walpurgis night was musically accompanied by the artist and flutist jelena mortigjija-reiter from the flamenco atelier wien. i envisioned abstract flute sounds, similar to what you might know from the icelandic band viibra.

the result was intended to serve as a first glimpse into the world of margarethe, offering insights as a dark harbinger.
today, here is a short excerpt from this video. the full music video can be found on youtube.
