A September highlight: some family and friends attended Wakpa, an Art Festival in Saint Paul celebrating the River as a sacred site and original land of the Dakota people with music, public art installations, poetry reading in a collective expression of art, reflection, and belonging. The public gathering took place on the Mississippi riverfront at Raspberry Island. I was given the opportunity to present my poem Water Frozen, 2026 among other poets reading their Saint Paul sidewalk poetry in Dakota language, Hmong, Spanish, Somali, Karen and English. It was a meaningful event and I found the artists, live flower mosaic installation, poets and musicians’ contributions so inspiring! @publicartstpaul @oyatehotanin #wakpa #sidewalkpoetry #publicart @thebeautifulbuffalodreamers @capitolregionwatershed

I spent a day at the @mnstatefair with my parents which started with @amyklobuchar jumping out of her stand to greet us, continued with running into family friends @bebekeithdesigns and Pete Keith—we saw my Dad’s @bajinreverse and my Creative Activity entries, enjoyed Fine Arts, tried Peachy’s Amish Donuts, saw Ag-Hort-Bee displays and @pwhl_frost Walter Cup. The day began and ended with ice cream which fueled many steps and many hours of fun. We love the Fair!

It’s my parents’ 50th Anniversary today. I am so grateful for the immense gift of wonderful parents throughout my life. Bjorn and I stand on the foundation of support, their example, a great friendship among us, and their great love. My parents’ dedication, love, integrity, hard work and effort to create a generous and beautiful life elevates ours and the many lives of those they care about—I wish for them, health, joy, abundance together in all the years to come.

Happy Birthday to the very wonderful @john.strom.jhs Thank you for being my example of hard work, integrity, dedication, levelheadedness, source of wisdom and also, source of fun. You are one of my favorite people to talk to, travel with, and sit together in comfortable silence with. Thank you for showing me what a feminist looks like, long before I ever heard the word. That is such an immense thing to do for a daughter— I am so grateful that you are my Dad.

Celebrating you on your birthday Bjorn—You make me laugh in a new way every single day. Your enthusiastic energy, easy humor, smart perspectives, willingness to share knowledge and make an effort for people, your openness and passion for things and people you love all make you the most delightful person to spend my life with. I love you and adore this era of life dwelling with the most authentic expression of you as yourself. Let’s have the best time being 45. #wolvesback #timberwolves @bajinreverse

Today is my Aunt Tami’s birthday and I want to tell the world how grateful I am to have her as my Aunt! Aunt Tami came into my family when I was 5 or so, and I was very taken by her from the start. I was very very shy as a little girl, and she made me feel comfortable going to the park to play pirates with her instead of hiding behind my parents legs. She’s the beloved Mom and mother-in-law to 3 of the most precious people in my universe. She chose a career at the Hubbard County DAC because she is a compassionate supporter of the disabled community who made inclusion a natural state in her daily life before it was part of most people’s consciousness. She is the first true animal lover I have ever known and she is patient, openhearted and inclusive in her loving ways. Her sense of humor is unmatched and she also has true grit—an injury requiring surgery could *not* stop her from showing up to a family vacation mere days later, earlier this year. Best friend to many, and a true treasure on earth—Love you, Tami you make our family and the world a such better place! ❤️💕❤️

Happy Birthday Bekah! As friendships go, this one is a verb—we are baking bread and talking about it, uniting for travel, stretching ourselves and comparing notes, dining deliciously and seeking to understand it all deeply. The connection is real, the gratitude I have for your friendship is real and the Minnesota State Fair is real! Celebrating your birthday with gratitude for you, Bekah!
