CHAPTER 38 🎉 Getting older is weird. Like how the hell am I almost 40? I’m still 27 figuring out life, right?! So glad I got back into my love of reading a few years ago. University made me not enjoy reading for a few years (so much text book reading), but I found my way back. I am also thankful to finally have a space large enough for all my pretty books 📚 ♥️

One year without you. How has it been a year? It still feels like yesterday. While simultaneously seeming as it’s been a lifetime since I’ve last kissed your sweet face. Losing you is I think the hardest thing I’ve had to go through in this life so far. None of it was fair. You deserved more time. You were so healthy. Cancer wasn’t supposed to ever find you. I am so grateful for you, though. You shaped my life in more ways than I ever imagined. You changed the entire trajectory of my career, my priorities and I learned true love and happiness from you. You are my greatest gift. Thank you for sending Juniper our way. Somehow you knew we would be ok and knew that she was exactly what we needed. I never wanted her to be an only dog at four months old, but that’s what was in the cards I guess. She has been such a light, and has helped me immeasurably in my grief. I am so very glad that she is related to you. It makes it even sweeter. I will miss you every day for the rest of my life Oli. Thank you for everything you gave me. I am so sorry that I couldn’t give you more. I hope your soul still lives on and that I’ll be able to see you again some day. I love you so much Oliver. ♥️ #grief #dogloss #mybestfriend

🌟Congrats to our newest Charlo Elite Pup, Willow! 🌟 We are so proud of this teams accomplishments through training! Read more about Willow’s experience below! “We brought Willow home at 7 weeks of age and had chosen her specifically with the hope that she would one day be a Therapy Dog.  We already had two small elderly dogs in our home when we brought Willow home.  At seven weeks of age, she was about the same size/weight as our two senior dogs.  As we all know, puppies are very playful, energetic, and need to learn SO many things.  Our two senior dogs were NOT fans of Willow.  She constantly wanted to “play” with them (i.e. tackle them), but they mainly wanted to either sleep or just play the way that older dogs play.  My husband, Bruce, and I were questioning our sanity for several months.  We signed up for some puppy training classes which were somewhat helpful, but we were still struggling.  One of my co-workers mentioned that he had sent his dog to Charlo for their board-and-train two-week program.  He said that the training was phenomenal.  I was initially hesitant, since he told me that they use e-collars.  I thought of e-collars as being negative reinforcement.  He said that he felt the same way before meeting the staff at Charlo.  He said that “you can tell that they really do love dogs.”  His dog came home a changed dog, very happy and obedient.  So when Willow was 5 months old, we gave Charlo a call.  Alicia came to our house and simply amazed us with her demo with her own dog, Oliver.  She let us feel the signal of the e-collar on our hands.  She taught us that the e-collar is a form of communication, not negative reinforcement.  We signed up that day for the one-on-one classes in our home.  She helped to train US so that we would know how to train Willow.  It took a lot of consistent work, but we’re thrilled with the progress she’s made.  We’re so thankful for all of the group class coaches (Jacqueline, Tristan, and Alicia).  We are still working towards Therapy Dog certification with guidance from Charlo.  Willow is now 16 months old and I’m happy to say that our two elderly dogs are now also quite fond of Willow.  Thank you, Charlo!”
