✨ Just a little appreciation post for the amazing woman, queen, and friend that is @aliciajvs 👑❤️

Seven years ago, in 2019, I didn’t know you. I watched you become Miss Galaxy Australia 2019, completely unaware of the incredible friendship that would eventually come from it all.

And honestly, is there any better way to get to know someone than through a photo shoot? 😂📸

When I ran my fundraising mini sessions in 2020, you jumped at the opportunity to get in front of my camera. As proud as I’d always seen you wearing your Galaxy crown, I was just as excited to photograph the woman behind it and make sure you had beautiful, lasting memories of that chapter of your life.

Little did I know that, years and a handful of photo shoots later, I’d find myself stepping into the Galaxy world myself, with the privilege of having YOU coach me through the once-in-a-lifetime experience of competing at @missgalaxypageant as Mrs Galaxy Australia 2025 👑✨

We’ve always gotten along, and I’ve always had an enormous amount of respect for you. But the last couple of years have made me more grateful than I ever could have imagined for just how much you’ve brought into my life.

Because there are some people you meet who leave a lasting impression, change your perspective, open doors you never knew existed, and make your life a little richer simply by being in it.

You’re one of those people, Alicia 💜

From cheering you on, to having you coach me, to now sharing our passion for women’s empowerment and getting to facilitate our recent workshop together, it’s pretty special to look back at how far we’ve come and all the different ways our paths have crossed.

The fact that we get to share something we’re both so passionate about, encourage other women, and create opportunities to lift each other up is something I’ll never take for granted.

I’ve been looking up to you for the last seven years… and let’s be honest, I’m STILL literally looking up to you because you’re so goddamn tall. 😂💀❤️

Thank you for being the incredible woman you are 🫶🏼✨🥹

Here’s your sneak 👀 peak into the Camera Confidence magic ✨ that happened on the weekend 🎉

because sometimes you’re not scared to do the thing, it’s just a lot easier when you don’t have to do it alone ✨🎉

‘I’m not comfortable in front of the camera’

‘I’m not sure who I am right now’

‘I’d like more age appropriate photos’

These are all thoughts that were shared before the camera even came out an just look at the results 👀

Pop a 🙌 down below if you think we need to do another one in 📍Perth or comment the MONTH that would work for you!

What happens when you have a room full of women ready to show up for themselves?

Lots of laughter, genuine connections and maybe even a few hugs and tears 🥰🥹

This wasn’t about taking the ‘best’ photo, it was about creating a safe space to allow for growth to happen in real time ✨ it was powerful, it was vulnerable and it was exactly what I think we all needed on the day.

Life gets so busy, that it’s a struggle to make the time for YOU, so we challenged the excuses and saw a beautiful group of woman ranging in age, experiences
and goals to talk about their current challenges and what they need to show up more as who they want to be ✨

There’s something so special about seeing women feel empowered enough to put themselves out of their comfort zone and take an agency that was always there 🎉

This is just the beginning for sure, so stay tuned for more 😎😉

This is the place where
‘I don’t want acceptable, I want AUTHENTIC’ ✨ became the quote of the day and really drove home the passion and permission that was felt yesterday at our very first CAMERA CONFIDENCE workshop 📸

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what was captured, so please, stay tuned for more 🙌

The best photos are when you’re comfortable with the person behind the camera 📸 and after 6 years, we’ve become a pretty good team ✨

You’ve decided you’re not photogenic. But have you ever questioned why? 👀📸

When we don’t like a photo of ourselves, how often do we blame our appearance before questioning the lighting, the direction we’ve been given, or whether we even felt comfortable in front of the camera?

We think we look awkward.
We decide we don’t know how to pose.
We question our confidence.

But what if we’ve been judging ourselves without ever giving ourselves the chance to experience being photographed differently?

With over a decade of experience behind the camera, I’ve seen how much the experience itself can influence how someone feels about their photos.

That’s why Alicia from @innerqueenconfidence and I are creating Camera Confidence. 🤍

A space to explore how you move, express yourself and feel in front of the camera. To challenge the beliefs you’ve made about yourself, try something new and perhaps see yourself a little differently.

Because this isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about giving yourself the opportunity to be seen in a new light.

✨ Learn posing and movement
✨ Explore confidence and self-expression
✨ Connect with like-minded girls
✨ Walk away with professional portraits taken by @danichecreative 📸

You don’t need to arrive feeling confident. You don’t need to know how to pose. And you certainly don’t need to consider yourself photogenic.

What if you tested that theory? 🤍

What if I told you that not being photogenic was a mindset?

What if it was a theory you could test for yourself?

Try a new pose, something that comes more naturally to you…

Let someone else see what you can’t quite see yet.

Or talk about how you want to be seen

and what you want your photos to say about you
