More about my latest piece “45 Operários” created and exhibited at @rioartresidency.

The work is acquired by legend @alienqueennft

Inspired by Brazilian artist Tarsila do Amaral and her work Operários (1933), which depicts factory workers amid São Paulo’s industrial transformation. I wanted to address the same topic, through a lens of the modern working class.

📝I interviewed 45 working class individuals in Rio asking them “how do they feel about their job” and made their portrait sketches, noting down their positions, such as: doorman, cashworker, cleaner, etc.

📈Analysed the data. Figures are sorted in a “chart” composition, based on the answer “How appreciated do you feel at your job?”. The light blue stands for - the least, yellow stands for - the most.

🧒👦Each answer constructs a unique facial expression that reflects the overall satisfaction about their jobs. Portrait sketches enhance the distinct features of their faces and better capture their unique character.

This was experimental work, I would define it as analog data visualization, the creative researche which resulted in a quite successful work ✨👍
