Something different today. Some soul shaking distortion before work. Kai Tangata by @alienweaponry blew me away by it's simplicity yet ass kicking heaviness. Thanks to Songster, I managed to follow after a few tries. Headbang along!

🎸 ALIEN WEAPONRY 🎸

Last week we had Cindy's Top 5 Aussie artists.
Today it's V's Top 5 Kiwi artists back from our first episode in August.
Honestly, another tough pick because there is legitimately so many great NZ artists.

1. @villainymusic
2. @zedtheband (can't go past the band from your high school)
3. @alienweaponry
4. @lorde
5. @thesefourwallsband (that first episode also has our interview with these guys, and it's worth checking out just for that)

With honourable mention to @_goodnightnurse_ 👏🏻

Any changes you'd make? 🤔

I went to Brutal Assault Festival in 2019 and has a lovely time with @cosblood_eye @vihenry @doylegavine and co, despite Scott booking us into a diabolically hard to get to hotel that unintentionally tried to steal my passport. The nightly mission to try and get home added to the fun, in it's own way, though it didn't feel like it at the time.

It's a great festival and I'd love an opportunity to go back. It's located inside an old fortress and had loads of non-musical stuff to enjoy like an arcade and an art gallery. Everything was cheap, cocktails flowed like water, it had probably the best and most varied festival food I've had (I miss that Mongolian curry!), and there was a great mix of bands. Crucially this is also where I met the fabulous @carla_cheryl, who has become one of my favourite people.

Bands I remember as real highlights were Alien Weaponry, Decapitated, Anthrax, Carpenter Brut, Anathema, Sodom, Destruction, Electric Wizard, Hellhammer, Carcass, Napalm Death, Primordial and Hypocrisy. There are some other amazing bands on the bill that I can't imagine I missed but cannot remember seeing. I did let the others - mostly Gav - drag me to see obscure extreme metal bands I'd never heard of though, so maybe I missed a few of the more obvious names doing that! We may have hidden from the rain at some point too, that could explain it - I remember the main stage area got pretty wet.
