MEET MS. ALI! 🎭🎶❤️🤓 We’re thrilled to introduce a very special friend of Mr. Anthony & Friends — Broadway star Ali Ewoldt! Ali has loved singing, dancing and performing since she was little! Her mom enrolled her in dance lessons at age 3 and voice lessons at 10, and her parents and teachers encouraged her dreams every step of the way. After graduating from Yale University, Ali made her Broadway debut as Cosette in Les Misérables! She went on to star as Maria in national and international tours of West Side Story, appear in Broadway’s Tony Award-winning revival of The King and I, perform Off-Broadway in The Fantasticks, and sing at Carnegie Hall! Then came a history-making moment! 🌟 After auditioning for The Phantom of the Opera for TEN YEARS, Ali landed the role of Christine Daaé — becoming the first Asian-American woman and first woman of color to play Christine on Broadway. She performed the role for more than two years, including the show's 30th-anniversary celebration. For Ali, it was more than a dream come true. Growing up inspired by performers like Lea Salonga, she hoped her breakthrough would help more children see that there's a place for them on Broadway, too. ❤️ And Ali knows all about perseverance! She says there were plenty of moments when she wanted to give up, but her love of performing and the people who supported her helped her keep trying. That's why we're so excited to welcome her to Mr. Anthony & Friends! In this Saturday's episode, “Learning Something New,” Ms. Ali teaches Mr. Anthony a brand-new song AND dance — “Moovin' and a Groovin'!” 🎶💃 Along the way, Mr. Anthony discovers that trying something new can be a lot more fun with a friend by your side. Ali believes music and theater help us connect, imagine and understand one another. And what would little Ali think of her today? “I think (and hope) she'd be blown away and very proud of me!” ❤️ Join Ms. Ali and Mr. Anthony for a special musical moment in “Learning Something New,” premiering this Saturday, October 24, on our YouTube channel! 🤓🎶 #MrAnthonyAndFriends #MeetTheFriends #AliEwoldt #Broadway #LearningSomethingNew #KidsSongs

Almost 10 years ago, we started Broadway for Arts Education with a little music program in India and a handful of Broadway artists. I never could have imagined where that dream would take us! From NYC to India and now MOROCCO! 🇲🇦❤️ Incredible students, an inspiring new partnership with Project Soar, and a community that welcomed us with open arms and quickly became family. I am so incredibly grateful. So much love and gratitude to Laura Melchor, Grandpa Greg, Brittany Stone, Ben Houghton & Skie Ocasio, and our extraordinary Broadway team of the incomparable Ali Ewoldt, two of my beloved students, Vishal Vaidya, Jenny Mollet, and 3 new amazing friends, Morgan Anita Wood, Josh Daniel, and Mat Hostetler. Some of the most beautiful talents and humans I have had the pleasure to meet! Who knew a girl from Wisconsin would end up riding a camel in the Moroccan desert?! 🐪😂 Keep dreaming, keep learning, and keep opening your heart. You never know where life will take you! ✨ #BAE #morocco #broadway #nonprofit #projectsoar

A summer to remember! 🥚💄🎭👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨🍳💀💌 Finally settled back in NYC and boy 5 months in Utah sure flew by. What a time it was! So many adventures and new friendships. Reunions! Fun in rep with Something Rotten and She Loves Me. Oh so inspired by all the stellar productions and talented performers that I met. Also grateful to get to try on Amalia’s shoes (or… shoe? Did she ever find it?) for a bit. Grateful to USF and so so many people (more names than I can list) for the opportunity! Couldn’t ask for a more wonderful time. Thank you thank you all! Until next time Cedar City! Production 📸’s by Karl Hugh.

Happy 40th anniversary to one of THE most spectacular and longest running musicals every made. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of Opera opened on stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre on October 9, 1986. Inspired by the 1910 novel by Gaston Leroux, it tells the tragic story of beautiful soprano Christine Daaé, who becomes the obsession of a mysterious and disfigured musical genius living in the subterranean labyrinth beneath the Paris Opera House. 🎭 🌹 The musical opened in London’s West End in 1986 and on Broadway in New York in 1988, in a production directed by the late Harold Prince and starring English classical soprano Sarah Brightman as Christine Daaé, screen and stage actor Michael Crawford as the Phantom, and international stage performer, the late Steve Barton, as Raoul. It won the 1986 Olivier Award and the 1988 Tony Award for Best Musical, with Crawford winning the Olivier and Tony for Best Actor in a Musical. I’ve seen Phantom on Broadway more times than I can count. Here are some photos I put together from my memories of watching this beloved musical and meeting the incredible artists who brought the characters to life on stage. 🎭 🌹

Ali Ewoldt’s recent 54 Below show was a celebration on many levels, honoring her Filipino heritage and recognizing the importance of family and dreams. It also proved a solid survey of her 20-year career. The first Asian-American actress to play Christine Daaé in the Broadway production of “Phantom of the Opera,” the immensely talented Ewoldt wove charming tales of theatrical life alongside such songs as “A Whole New World” (with fellow Filipino Jose Llana), “Vanilla Ice Cream” and, naturally, the “Phantom” classic “Think of Me” (with rising star Anna Zavelson). Making the evening more special: It was Ewoldt’s birthday. 4 out of 5 stars. At 54 Below, Oct. 6, 2026; 54below.org.
