Bedtime at Mouse’s House (Bedtime Books)

It’s bedtime at Mouse’s house, but Mouse isn’t sleepy! Never mind, how about a fun bubble bath, some snuggly pajamas and a lovely story? Young children will love helping with Mouse’s bedtime routine - pulling Mouse’s pajama top on, turning the pages of a mini storybook and spinning a wheel to see what Mouse will dream of when he finally falls asleep. A perfect bedtime read in an engagingly cozy world.

Autumnal vibes + helpful conversation around catastrophizing = picture book gold. This is more than a “sky is falling” book because it layers in discussion about facing a feared outcome together and knowing it will be ok. Plus it’s just darn cute!
.
Thanks to @penguinkids for sharing this one with us! We have a cold front coming through later this week and it is finally going to feel like fall here! Yay!

As a girl mom of two, I want my daughters to know how special they are. I want them to know that they can be anything they want when they grow up. And I want them to know their own strength. These are two books we’ve had on repeat lately 💛

Have you read these yet?

TWO BOOKS, TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF SUPER!

Sometimes you pick up a book expecting a cute, easy read… and end up having WAY more fun than anticipated. 😂📚

DIARY OF A NUMBER ONE SUPERFAN
If you’ve ever had a celebrity crush that got just a little too serious… this one is for you. 😂🙌
This funny, fictional book is all about Taylor Swift!
This is such a fun, chaotic and entertaining read about fandom, obsession and the lengths we might go to for the people we absolutely adore. It’s witty, relatable and has that “I’ll just read one more chapter…” energy.
And honestly, anyone who has ever screamed at a screen, defended their favourite celebrity like they’re family, or planned their entire personality around a fictional/real life obsession will recognise themselves here. 👀

@pbutchart @gemmacorrell @puffinbooksuk

I AM A SUPER GIRL

Now THIS is a little ray of girl-power sunshine. 🌈✨
A brilliant, uplifting story celebrating confidence, courage , finding your voice and remembering that when things get tough we don’t give up because we are Super Girls! So believing in yourself, embracing what makes you special and realising that strength can come in all sorts of forms. 💕
It’s sweet, empowering and exactly the kind of book that leaves you with a little extra pep in your step.

Our #SundayBedtimeStory choice this week is a double whammy…

Not only have we shared a review for this fabulous book but it’s also the feature for our first episode of Books That Help Storytime which you can find on our website now!

A huge thank to you @frances_tosdevin for sharing this with us and @andersenpress for their permission to post.

THE REALLY BEAUTIFUL THING (Frances Tosdevin, Ali Pye)
@alipyeillo

The Really Beautiful Thing (Andersen, 2025) is a captivating cautionary tale that warns of greed, consumerism and failing to appreciate the beauty all around… until it is too late.

Squirrel becomes enamoured with a Really Beautiful Thing and despite not knowing much about it, he sacrifices his comfortable sofa, his well-stocked fridge and even the home he shares with his friends. However, Squirrel soon realises the Really Beautiful Thing is actually rather useless. The narrative is a poignant reminder of the pitfalls of materialism and the importance of appreciating what we have - happiness isn’t found in possessions but in meaningful connections.

The vibrant and engaging illustrations complement the word-perfect storytelling, bringing the characters and their emotions to life in an accessible and enjoyable way for young readers.

🍁’The last leaf’ by @alipyeillo is a gorgeous autumnal read all about the changing of seasons. @puffinbooksuk

🍁 The main character, a dog called Parker, is worried about what will happen when the last leaf falls and the different answers given to him by the other animals just adds to his confusion and worries. That is, until he meets Bear.

🍁 I love the friendship between Parker and Bear and I love how the book ends, hopefully leading to another book, but on the season of winter.

🍁 The illustrations in this book show a lovely contrast between the city and the warm colours of nature. The gold foiling is also gorgeous on the front cover and adds to the autumnal vibes this book gives.

🍁 A cosy bedtime read. My choice for #sundaybedtimestory @educa8wirral
