Saying this feels silly considering how much of my work is in black and white these days, but for the longest time I had no interest in doing black and white photography. I liked other people’s b&w work, but I saw it as kind of a crutch for my own—something that gave a photo depth and presence without actually building it. I thought if I couldn’t make it work in color, it just wasn’t a good photo in the first place.

But photography is all about directing attention. Forgoing color is just one of many ways to do it.

High-powered flashes and studio lights are nice, but sometimes you’ve only got the sun. Sometimes that’s all you need.

Things have been different here lately. We’re singing more, dancing more, living more. And there’s just this air of hope in the air. Our Mayor is actually working for us, the warm air has felt even sweater on my skin, and the Knicks made the finals. Genuinely experiencing “levels of up” previously unheard of.

Happy Anniversary ♥️ We waltz through gardens like something dreamt up between dusk and memory—your hand in mine, as if it was always meant to be there, as if every path I’ve ever taken was only leading me to you, a quiet miracle of an angelic blessing that feels like it was written by God Himself.

The first Femme Foto Group Exhibition turned out to be a success 🌠💪

Months of meetings, emails, more emails, curating, graphic design work, and a dash more of meetings created the hottest event on the coldest night!

We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors @fujifilmx_us @fotocarenyc @tethertools and @godox_global for contributing time, thoughtfulness, a generous spread of door prizes, and all the gear for our Photo Booth (and entire day!) where guest could get their image made by the EXTREMELLYYYY talented and just as lovely 💕@_emilyteague. This provided opportunities to directly meet some AMAZING members from many communities! And lastly, a special shout to out Rebel for believing in us and guiding us to success, & @leah_titus, @lottiegra, @ellarosec for making this production possible 🤩

Thank you to everyone who came out to support and celebrate a community of women, femme-identifying, nonbinary, and trans photographers who make extraordinary work.

Check out our images collected by community members and guests 🤩🙏 @empireofwelz @melanie.rdp @shotbycaitlyn @carlystarphoto @omidafshar @davegeffin @coco.tolentino #fujfilm #xhalf #myfujifilmlegacy #buildyourlegacy

With our warmest love and looking forward to the next,

If you can’t tell, the fam @fujifilmx_us is both fun and weird - my kind of people. I got to meet all these folks for the first time in person last week at the BILD show in NY. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and supportive - it truly speaks to how well we handled the 50,000+ visitors at BILD, who flocked to our booth. It was an exhausting week, but it got me really excited to see them again at the next big one.

Thanks to @fujifilmx_us and @bhphoto for providing a free tour bus ride at the Bild Expo.

We got the opportunity to shoot the city from a different angle with the open top bus. Ended up with a great group of other photographers which really made it an awesome way to wrap the first day of the expo.

We all were able to get some great shots of the stoplights and street signs from sometimes near level with them. Almost sacrificed my 24 while grazing the light to get the second shot.
