POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A weekend woven with golden light, salt air, and a symphony of shared moments. We gathered under the palms, the evening starting with the gentle murmur of conversation as the sun dipped low. As the stars reclaimed the sky, the night ignited with vibrant dancing, heartfelt speeches, and the unexpected magic of fireworks that illuminated the coastal night. From sophisticated toasts by candlelight to letting loose on the floor, every chapter was a celebration. Unforgettable. 💫🌴✨🫶🏼

July 14, 2016. The day my brother passed away. Every year on this day, I replay the moments after I found out.

I remember leaving work, crossing 42nd Street when my parents told me — the same crosswalk I’d walk across for the next decade. I remember freezing on the stairs at Bryant Park. I remember flagging down a cab and collapsing inside.

My first call was to my boyfriend at the time. All I could get out was “he’s gone.” My second call was to my roommate, @_laurentaylorscott. When I got home, she and @sarahcannongreene were on the couch, waiting. The rest of the night is a blur — I remember crying myself to sleep. My boyfriend booked us flights, and we were gone by morning.

In the decade since, on top of the loss of Chris, I’ve been through two major heartbreaks while grieving something else at the same time, and a critical health scare with my optic nerve that took a year to recover from. It’s been a lot 🙃 But the toughest moments foster community.

I wouldn’t have made it through any of this without my friends. I’m grateful for the cards, the flowers, the patience, the nights we danced until 3am, the birthdays they made me celebrate when all I wanted was to be alone, the long conversations full of hope, the weddings that doubled as reunions, monthly dinner club, their kids that give me joy I’ve never felt, and everything in between. I’m also grateful for the old friendships that have been reignited. You know who you are 🫶🏽

Whatever I’ve been through, I feel an immense amount of gratitude and love — mostly because of them. Leaving, and being this far away now, isn’t easy. But these friendships are the foundation carrying me through.
