I visited the Clay Way Studio Tour, an event I look forward to every year! @claywaystudiotour

Held annually in Connecticut, it’s a wonderful opportunity to visit the studios of many ceramic artists, hear their stories, and purchase their beautiful work.

The fall foliage was also beautiful, making it a lovely day trip from Brooklyn, just two hours away by car. #ceramicstudio #ceramicartist #pottery #brooklynlife

From the newspaper THE COPPER MOUNTAIN MINER, 1907, Birdseye, Wyoming:

“I saw the last of our nineteen sticks of dynamite disappearing down the throat of a cow belonging to the prospector, Ketchum. I picked up a rock and threw it at her and there was a terrific explosion and the air was filled with particles of cow. She had gone across the great divide.”
Since told this story, a search with a fine tooth comb has failed to reveal a vestige of veracity to it.

Join us October 17th and 18th for our clay way tour!

@alisonpalmerstudio

I strive to achieve a lighthearted meld of human forms, animals and the vessel. These anthropomorphic figures are developed by hand building or throwing and altering the clay. All of my work is either wood or soda fired to cone 10. The atmosphere of the soda, fire and ash contribute to the spontaneous and unpredictable finish which gives the pieces a primitive, elemental look.

I’m so excited for this exhibition of works by John Cote, Alison Palmer myself! Join us tonight from 6-8pm for an artist reception @baugallery

I finished installing yesterday and the show is open all month.

On October 3rd we will host an artist talk and a closing reception
Artist Talk: 2–4 PM
Closing Reception: 4–6 PM

Philozoic Gestures unites three distinct artistic voices to explore our deep, enduring connection to the animal kingdom. Through atmospheric-fired ceramics and narrative painting, the exhibition examines how the form, spirit, and historical footprint of animals shape our visual language.
