An ode to the local baker

Deep within the heart of each baker there is a commitment and dedication to the community.

Why else would they endure the early mornings? Constantly be on alert? Working twelve plus hour days

They are artists creating a savory edible landscape for all of us to enjoy

In France they have an artisan bakery for every 2,000 people. In San Diego that number is closer to 1 in 75,000 people

Gather, share smiles, break bread, thank and support your local baker

They are part of the lifeblood of a thriving community

In our culture bread is the most Life Sustaining food and referred to as the “Staff of
Life”. Industrialization has leached the “Life” out of our bread.

The connection to the earth with the way wheat is grown

The appreciation and care it takes to mill grain properly for a thriving community

The beauty, depth and resulting satisfaction that bread making provides

Let’s get back to the basics

Locally Grown

Locally Milled

Locally Baked

Let’s break bread San Diego
