Still can’t get over the immense amount of support I felt throughout this entire marathon journey. From receiving that email from Project H.O.O.D., to MONTHS of endless training, to every mile of the race, and finally crossing that finish line after 6:42:42. It was such a full-circle moment taking my medal pictures and seeing the building I helped fundraise for come to fruition. A space being built for kids who look like me on the South Side of Chicago, because they deserve access to opportunities, positive outlets, and the freedom of movement too. 🤍

My sis Aliyah being my saving grace thee ENTIRE trip, the photos, the messages, my parents surprising me, Miss Michelle being an absolute lifesaver with the aid, and the random Muslim sisters whose arms I cried in during the last 12K 😭😭😭 Every single moment reminded me that even when the miles get hard, I’m surrounded by so much love and support. This journey was about so much more than running 26.2 miles, or doing a world major. It was about community, representation, and being part of something bigger than myself.

Thank you, Chicago. Until next time ⭐️

Study your spiritual practitioners. The way we tend to self, how we hold space, the way we alchemize all lessons sent our way and so on. This matters when choosing your support system. It matters when engaging with other birth workers as a birth worker.

It impacts how we reclaim ourself, our spaces, our collective power and sustain the reclamation. We need people rooted in spirituality and the understanding that we are supporting and walking with our clients on their spiritual journey.

Drop a 🕊️ or comment if this resonates.

In my grandmother’s garden, I learned that tending to what you love is a form of worship. 🌿 Every bloom was a lesson in nurturing, and every harvest was a testament to her spirit. Witnessing Ernestine McBride turn her backyard into a sanctuary taught me more about entrepreneurship and devotion than any book ever could.

Soil & Soul Reclaimed exists because my ancestors showed me the way back to the earth. We are simply returning to our roots. 🕊️✨
